Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Legends top 2.0 for myself

The Legends top by Stay + Stitch (previously known as Sew Straight and Gather), known for its beautiful neckline, has been updated with a new option of an A line bodice. I sewed the legends top for our girl three years ago. It has been on my sewing list to sew one for myself. So now I got the chance to sew two Legends 2.0 with the new option for myself (if you already own the legends pattern the new update (Legends 2.0) will be in your account).
The pattern is updated and now includes option A, the original fit, with a more fitted bodice and option B, an A line bodice. I sewed two tops during testing with option B.
Also the construction of the neckline has changed. Previously the front was fully lined, now a facing pattern piece is used for the neckline. I love this, as I found the double layer a bit too warm for summer weather.
First I sewed the red one, so I could match that with the pants I sewed recently. As this was sewed with a previous version of the pattern, the neckline is a bit higher in the red top. The neckline was lowered a bit for the final version of the pattern. After that I sewed the top with the flower fabric. They have a totally different feel don't you think?
Did you see the new charm that I have sewed on my top? I love them! I ordered them at AliExpress.
Besides the top there is also a knee and calf length dress included. You can even add pockets to the option B dress. In addition to the sleeve option, you can also sew a sleeveless top or dress. I really love that option as well. But after sewing all these tops the last months I was in need of t-shirts. If you don't own the pattern yet you can buy the pattern with a 30% discount until 11 July.

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
