Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

A twisted outfit: Romy twist tee and skirt

Twisted and asymmetrical clothing are my weak spot, so I fell in love the moment I saw this outfit, the Adult Romy Twist Tee and Skirt from Petite Stitchery*. They look complicated and sophisticated, but they are actually very quick sews. The twist top has three different lengths, I made the regular top length, also the modest top length and mini top length are included in the pattern. I don't really see myself wearing anything shorter than the regular top length, but I must admit, everybody in the tester group looked great in the shorter top lengths. Besides the crew neck option, also a v-neck option is included and 4 different sleeve length. So you can make many different options with the twist tee. That skirt! Wow, it is just two pattern pieces, one for the skirt and one for the waistband, you need to fold and flip and there you are, you have your new twist skirt. Well not exactly, that is in theory how it works but it was a bit puzzling at first what should go where. I length...

Treasures skirts for our girls

Skirts are the next best thing after dresses and sometimes skirts are even better. Especially our middle daughter loves skirts. During my last sewing weekend I sewed up two skirts for our two eldest girls with the Little Treasures Skirt by Duck Butt Designs . If you like colour blocking Duck Butt Designs is a great designer. All her designs include options to go all the way with amazing combinations of fabric.  I love Duck Butt Designs because of the colour blocking, so that is also what I did with the skirts for our girls. A big colour blocking pocket to put all those treasures in. I indeed have to make sure to clear out those pockets before washing them or I end up with a lot of different objects in my laundry. There are different options included in the pattern. There are two different lengths. I chose the longest length. Additionally, there are three different options for the waistband, a yoga waistband, folding and a waistband with elastic. There are even optional under...

A spring inspired misusu outfit: Doris & Piper

Joining an inspirational tour is always exciting (+ Giveaway!). This time I am joining the spring inspiration tour of Misusu where in total 35 bloggers are showing you inspiration with the Piper Tank Top combined with the Doris skirt or the Alex Joggers (which are now available in a bundle). Also more on the giveaway below! I was part of the testing team when the Doris skirt was released 2 years ago. I sewed two skirts during testing. Actually our middle girl, for which I sewed this set, actually fits these skirt at the moment. So she has three Doris skirts in her closet. I love the design of the Doris skirt with the back fabric peeping in the front. I added flat piping to accentuate the line of the pockets and the tapered shape of the skirt. And that waistband, I love the originality of the skirt! The Piper Tank Top was a new pattern for me. Wow that pattern is packed with lots of options which makes it suitable for both boys and girls. It has four different back op...

Wallacia Hi Lo skirt - Wicked Patterns

Our girls love skirts and high low skirts are the best  (the longer the skirts, the better) . Meet the Wallacia Hi Lo Skirt from Wicked Patterns . A hi-lo skirt that you can sew within an hour. It is a quick sew that looks great! ' I sewed two skirts during testing and used the different options. There are two different hem lines, with a curved hem (blue skirt) and a straight hem (flower skirt) and with pockets (flower skirt) or without pockets (blue skirt). I had a piece of fabric of 50 cm and that was enough for the skirt for our 6 year old (size 6 in length). Perfect for those smaller pieces you still have lying around. It is a versatile skirt perfect for our raining days here, but also great for our upcoming (hopefully) warm summer! The skirt is on sale until Sunday March 15th. Fabric : blue fabric with glitter lines was a coupon at the Stoffenstraat. The flower fabric is a Lillestoff design that comes from Joyfits. Pattern : ...

Suspender Skirt from Candy Castle Patterns

Look at that those cute suspenders, it makes me long for spring and summer! The new Lunch Bag Suspender Skirt by  Candy Castle Patterns * is a skirt with two lengths. I made the skirt at the knee length, there is also a more vintage above the knee length. You can add the suspenders but you can also leave the suspenders off but I love the suspenders and feel that makes the skirt super cute. What I really like about a pattern is when you can use the pattern both for woven and knit fabrics. This skirt can! The bunny fabric is knit while I used woven for the suspenders. It really is a quick sew and it has two types of pockets, so lot of options to make different types of skirts. I used the basic waistband option, also the paperbag waist option is included. Our girl loves her bunny skirt!  Use code LUNCH for an introductory 20% off your Lunch Bag Suspender Skirt Pattern!  Valid through Feb 27, 11:59 PM MST. Fabric : bunny fabric from Textielstad Pat...

Little Red Riding Hood Meets Peppermint Swirl

Several things came together that led to this skirt: the little red riding hood fabric that was part of a surprise fabric batch that I bought, our family going to Disneyland and our middle daughter not having a  Peppermint Swirl Skirt * . It was time for another peppermint swirl skirt by  Candy Castle Patterns ! Remember this amazing skirt that I sewed a couple of months ago? We all adore it! So me, who does not often sews patterns more than once, wanted to sew another one, this time for our middle daughter. During summer I bought a surprise batch of fabric at Stoffenfeest , which was quite a risk for me. What would I receive, and what types of fabric would I receive? This cotton with little red riding hood on it was not love at first sight. I was really in doubt, what was I going to sew with this? Then we decided to go to Disneyland Paris for a weekend and I knew our middle daughter was in need of a little red riding hood peppermint swirl dress. I mean every gir...

Senna skirt in stripes

The main requirement that our eldest has for the skirts/ dresses that I sew for her is that it needs to be long. I feel maxi skirts and dresses are not the handiest garments for school so I was looking for something that would meet her requirement of being long and my requirement of being not too long. Enter the midi skirt! The  Senna skirt  by  WISJ  is great as it works for knits, french terry or woven. I love that it is so versatile. And our daughter loves it, because it is long enough for her to wear to school. The slits at the sides of the skirt make the skirt even easier to play in. The back of the skirt is gathered, which gives the skirt enough room. Different fabrics give the skirt a different look.  It is a quick sew, the only thing that took some time was lining up the stripes and getting the elastic through the waistband. Oh and adding seam allowance. I prefer pdf patterns that have seam allowance included, but this pattern does not. I did not ...

Arcus skirts with scraps!

Another colour blocked pattern by Sofilantjes *, the Arcus skirt ! I love the skirt because as I said it has a lot of colour block options and it is great for scraps. I save all those special small pieces of fabric. I find it a waste to throw them away and with this pattern you can still use them. This skirt is perfect for a quick project, I sewed the second skirt, yesterday evening within 2 hours, from taping, to cutting to sewing. Isn't that great for a nice twirly skirt? Additionally, the size range is awesome, our little one who is wearing a straight 9-12M (74-80) fits it and it goes all the way up to 14Y (starting at 3M). I have a love-hate relationship with sewing with stripes. I love sewing with stripes, but then you have to line the stripes perfectly and I am not always in the mood for that. With this pattern sewing with stripes gives a nice extra touch to the skirt, I love that. Luckily the curve of the skirt pieces makes lining the stripes not th...
