Although I always like to challenge myself, sometimes I just fall in love with very simple patterns. When I saw the Sophie swing dress and tunic * by Peek-a-boo patterns I knew it would be perfect for our eldest. She only wants to wear dresses, but sometimes pants are the better option. Sweaters that have a twirly element that look like a dress are perfect for these occasions. Therefore I bought the Sophie swing dress and tunic. Of course I needed to find a piece of fabric that would be perfect for this tunic length I made. Simple patterns are perfect for special pieces of fabric. I bought the Mandala french terry not too long ago at Mamarieke . It is a panel with an orange stripe on one side of the panel. So I needed to carefully think about how to cut the pattern. Because I wanted the orange to come back in the sleeve I had to be creative with the cutting. I cut the sleeve in half and used as much of the orange piece I had left. If you are looking for a hoodie with lots of options, you can stop looking, the Bubby & Bee Hoodie * by Annelaine Patterns has lots, and I mean lots of options! The Bubby & Bee Hoodie even has an option without a hood. That is what I chose as our girl doesn't like hoods. I chose a tunic length with two ruffles at the bottom with heart shaped pockets.  Other options include: a placket, vest with zipper, keyhole hood, horizontal and vertical colour blocking options, stripes on the arms, kangaroo and heart pockets, regular, tunic, dress and knee length options, banded bottoms or a ruffled bottom. And you can all interchange them. So basically you can make any type of hoodie you want with different options each time.  I really like the size range of Annelaine Patterns, they come in sizes 9M up to 20!! I bought the pattern right away when it was released more than a year ago because I loved the double ruffled tunic. I knew our girl would love the ruffles too...

A lot of people already know the Dia Sweater by Misusu . It is a sweater with a great diamond in the middle of the sweater. Now it has been updated! In addition to the children sizes there is also a women's version of the sweater . Also the sizes have been extended (80-164 which is 9-12M - 13-14Y) and a tunic version has been added. The pattern has lots of options. You can make a regular sweater, high low sweater, regular tunic and high low tunic. During testing I made two different versions for our middle girl. First I made the tunic (or dress version in the case of small girl) because I just love sewing dresses. I used different colours to highlight the different pattern pieces. For the diamond I used glitter sweat, which of course is very much appreciated by our girl. I love how the different pattern pieces are great for colour blocking. I was sure when I showed this relaxed peplum top * to our daughter, she would call it her horse top. But I was wrong, these are obviously unicorns! Well great, if that makes that she will wear the top I am all for it! The relaxed peplum top, tunic and dress by Mamma Can Do It is a great peplum top which has lots of options. It comes in sizes 2Y-16 and there is also a  women's relaxed peplum top . You can make it in three different lengths, top, tunic or dress length. Additionally, you can make it with a circle peplum or a gathered peplum. Also the gathered peplum can be made with a regular hem or with a High/Low Hem. I made the top length with off course the circle peplum. Our girl loves the twirl factor of the circle hem, which girl wouldn't?! A royal tunic and dress, isn't that what all girls want? Be a princes or a queen? Our girl definitely always wants to be royal! And with this queen's (=regina) tunic and dress  (English)* (link naar  Nederlands patroon ), that is what you a get, a royal garment. Patterns by Sofilantjes are always a hit in our household and so was this tunic. She wore it straight away until it had to be washed. The Regina tunic has several options, it has beautiful pleated sleeves or you can make regular sleeves (short or long), it has a pleated skirt (tunic and dress length) or a gathered circle skirt. If you think a circle skirt could twirl, I believe a gathered circle skirt can twirl even better! You can even combine the skirts of the Regina for the Solis, Montis and Litore dresses and of course also use the skirts of these dresses for the Regina bodice, great isn't it?! Today I am showing you two patterns from Zierstoff Patterns *. The Greta Tunic and the Mina Shorts . Both patterns are great for summer sewing. We were just planning a trip to Indonesia when I was looking at the patterns, so I got very inspired to sew some summer garments. First up is the  Greta Tunic . It is a tunic which is great for summer to put over a swimsuit at the beach for example. When I saw the Greta Tunic I just thought it would just be perfect for our eldest. I like the loose fit, it just flows nicely. An added bonus is the quick sew, only attaching the facing in the front might take some time. The fabric was already in my stash for almost years. I loved it when I saw it online, but once it was in my hands I found it difficult to combine with other fabrics and did not find a pattern that fitted the fabric. When I saw this pattern I thought the fabric was just perfect for it. The Mina shorts  are an even quicker sew than the Greta Tunic. Within 2 hour...

The moment was there, I was picked to be a pattern tester for a Sofilantjes * pattern, how great is that?! I was over the moon excited about it! The Sylva Top and Tunic * (English pattern, Dutch pattern )  is here and all I can say is we love the pattern. I have to admit, the first time I saw the pattern I was a bit underwhelmed. The patterns by Sofilantjes are always awesome, great fit and just great designs. But then I made the first top and I fell in love with the pattern when our eldest put it on. It is just a lovely top! What I like about the Sylva Top and Tunic is that it is an easy sew but looks sophisticated, it is great for a lot of colour blocking with all those small scraps. And you can create different feels by using different fabrics for the right or left sleeve or for the front and back, or the sleeves and the top part of the bodice or the binding. So many options. An added bonus is that the front and the back are identical, which is perfect for kids dressing...
