Neverland tee

I don't often sew t-shirts, although they are quick and an easy sew and the result is always unique. Nevertheless, if I sew t-shirts, I love something with colour blocking. The Neverland Tee from Stitch upon a time * ticks that box, it has a great colour blocking detail. With t-shirts it is always the question whether it will be worn a lot or not. When I sew a dress for our eldest she will definitely wear it. With t-shirts it really depends, let's see if she likes it. Luckily she has two sisters who she can pass it on to, so it will be worn in the end. The Neverland tee has three sleeve options and the possibility to hem or use cuffs at the sleeves. There is the colour block version of the tee or with a plain front and/or back. I used the colour blocked pattern pieces for both the front and the back. Funfetti Donut Top, Tunic & Dress Pattern

There is a new pattern by Candy Castle Patterns and you are going to love this pattern! This is going to be your go to pattern, it includes soooo many options. I sewed three garments during testing, a t-shirt, a peplum top and a high low dress. Meet the Funfetti Donut Top, Tunic & Dress Pattern from Candy Castle Patterns *. I let our eldest choose which options she wanted and she chose the high low dress and the flutter sleeves. She loves fluttery, flowy sleeves. I must admit these options give such a great result. It took some time to pick out the fabric because I didn't want to use directional fabric because of the skirt and I needed a little bit more than a meter and it turned out I didn't have that many pieces to pick from. Basic raglan for my man

Last weekend I went on a sewing weekend and I try to make something for everybody during such a weekend. For my husband I made another t-shirt. This time I used the Basic Raglan by Made by Runi . It is a great basic pattern that works well and is sewed together very quickly. I let my husband pick out the fabric and I must say I like the combination that he picked out! There is not much else to say about this project other than it was finished within an hour and it makes a happy man. He feels a bit neglected when it comes to sewing. I sewed 11 items during the sewing weekend, 5 for our eldest, 3 for our middle one, 2 for our youngest and just 1 for him. When things do not go as planned

I almost always sew at night when the kids are in bed. Usually this works great, but sometimes I am tired and mistakes creep in my sewing, This project was just like that, it just did not go as I had planned. I always plan out my fabric choices very carefully, so did I for the Super Mega Comfy Top by Made by Runi . I cut my front and back panel and was very happy that I was just able to have enough for my top. Oh wait, then I realised I still needed to cut the sleeves (grrrr). I didn't want to waste the fabric I had already cut and decided to cut the sleeves from a different fabric. Now what to do, cut the sleeves from the same fabric that I had planned for the colour block? Luckily I did not do that. I choose another fabric and it works well. Although next time I would choose one fabric for the bodice and sleeves and a different for the colour block (just as I had planned). Another Sylva in the Sofilantjes family

Remember the lovely neckline on this Sylva top for our eldest? And this cute Sylva onesie for our youngest? Now there is a baby Sylva Top and Tunic * by Sofilantjes ! The only Sylva I am still waiting for is a Women's Sylva 😉. I love the Sylva line of Sofilantjes because they are perfect for colour blocking. You can use different colours for each sleeve, like I did with the Sylva top for our eldest and the Sylva onesie . You can also just use a different top and bottom part of the shirt. Just like the Sylva top and tunic the long sleeve of the baby sylva top and tunic has another colour block at the bottom. What makes the Sylva original is the neckline, which is great for daddies as the front and the back are the same (if you use the same fabrics of course). Busan Top by Itch to Stitch

I am not a real fashionista like some seamstress are. I am more of a follower when it comes to fashion, or maybe a late follower. I usually don't really like all the new things that are 'hot' at the moment. Only after seeing things for a long time (a few years) I am like, 'that is actually quite nice'. However, now that I sew for myself and also test for myself these things sometimes change. I love to be challenged in life and that is what pattern testing does for me. Both in skills, but also sewing outside of my comfort zone when it comes to designs. When I first saw the Busan top * by Itch to Stitch I wasn't sure whether it was something for me. But I love patterns by Itch to Stitch, so I decided to sign up for the test. I love the pleats! And now that it is finished I love it (and hopefully I am wearing something that is 'in' now 😉). Asymmetrical Floreat top

I love asymmetrical patterns. Once I see one I just have to buy it. When I saw the Floreat by Megan Nielsen I just had to apply for the pattern test, I love the asymmetry in the pattern. Floreat is an asymmetrical dress or blouse that can be made from woven or knit fabrics. It has inseam pockets as well as multiple sleeve and hem lengths. There are four different options in the pattern: a long sleeve dress with waist ties, a long sleeve blouse (this is the option I made), a short sleeved cropped blouse and a sleeveless blouse or dress. I made option B in knit fabric, so the back is just one piece without the hook and eye. I love the versatility of the pattern. You can just buy one pattern and make so many different garments from it, both in woven and in knit fabric. The fit is spot on and I love the drape of the t-shirt, especially with a post partum belly it is great. Baby cuddling with the skin to skin top

Our baby girl likes to be cuddled and likes to be close to mommy during the evenings. This means that usually she is wrapped around me in a baby carrier. Then I saw a tester call for the skin to skin top by Eldenberry Blossoms . I was very intrigued to see how that would work so I signed up and was chosen to test! The idea behind the skin-to-skin top is that there are many benefits for the baby when they receive skin to skin contact. Of course our girl is not a newborn anymore, but this top still works great. I put her in and just like a carrier she is close to me. The top holds her tight to me. This top does not replace a baby carrier as you still need to hold the baby but it works great if you are sitting on the couch. I used punta di roma for the top, which has a great recovery and holds the baby well. You can also make it in knit or jersey. What is important when choosing the fabric is that it has great recovery.
