Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Finally a stella jumpsuit

The Stella Jumpsuit from Sofilantjes * has been on my sewing list for a long time. I wanted to sew it since our youngest was born, 2 years ago. This summer I just had to sew it since she will outgrow the sizes soon and I wanted to make a summer Stella with short sleeves. You must recognise the fabric from  these dresses . Yes, I bought it on the bold at Nooteboom and I love it. It a very soft fabric and flows so nice. There is still some left. Now all the girls at home have a garment in this fabric. Our husband is the only one missing out, but he doesn't like twinning with us unfortunately. Well too bad for him. The Stella Jumpsuit starts at size 50 (NB) and goes up to size 92 (2Y). I made a 74 chest size with a 86 length.  The Stella is the perfect newborn gift but it also works well for toddlers. Those jumpsuits look so cute on them when they walk around. The baggy bum works also very well with cloth diapers. Our daughter is wearing her cloth diaper in her stella. I specifi...

Double gauze jumpsuit from Ottobre

When I first saw the jumpsuit (Sloppy) in the Ottobre 3/2018 I wanted to sew it up. So the Ottobre was on my sewing table for a long time to sew it up. I wanted to sew it up before summer. But it didn't happen last year. Since sizing goes up to 92 I had to sew it up this year or our girl wouldn't fit it anymore. And it was a great way to use the double gauze (or tetra fabric) that I already have for some years. I used a longer length because of the cloth diapers we use and I feel the crotch is always the area where a jumpsuit becomes too small too quickly. The jumpsuit has a sloppy feel (hence the name I assume), so it has a dropped crotch. The top part of the jumpsuit is lined. I made a knot at the end of the shoulder bands and will leave them there during a diaper change. There is enough room to get it on and off without having to take the knot out. I hemmed the legs, but it is still a bit too long, so I fold the legs until she grows out of it. Don't babies loo...

Muse playsuit re-release

I love playsuits, don't you? They look so cute on babies. But then babies grow up, so with our youngest still a bit baby like I need to sew up all the playsuits because once they get potty trained they are not that useful anymore. The Muse Playsuit by Stitch Upon a Time * is a great playsuit that works well with cloth diapers!   I love that the playsuit is loose enough so you can put some extra layer underneath it. There are several options for the finishing of the sleeves and the legs. You can use cuffs, like I did, or you can hem them. The playsuit fits very well and with the gusset is also over cloth diapers. There are also two add ons: the muse playsuit dress expansion and the muse playsuit footie expansion . If you interested in the expansions, the first 10 00 customers will receive the Footie Expansion AND the Skirt Expansion FREE with purchase of the Muse Playsuit with the code FreeEXP! I will definitely make the dress expansion, so cute! The muse is on...

Biker Coverall with snaps

I think almost everybody recognizes the distinct collar of the Biker jacket, sweater and coverall by  MW Patterns *. I love that collar! When I had the opportunity to sew the Biker coverall I jumped on that opportunity. I like coveralls, but only for kids when they are small and are not potty trained yet. Once they get older I do not find coveralls too handy anymore. Luckily I have a newborn, born a couple of weeks ago, to sew a coverall for! The Biker Coverall comes in a wide range of sizes, 56 until 110. These are European sizes, which means the size corresponds to the length of the kid. The smallest size is for a baby with the length of 56 cm. Our baby is small and is still wearing 50. Nevertheless, I sewed the 56 so that she can grow into it the coming weeks/months. Small kids already outgrow their clothes so soon, so hopefully she can wear it for a longer time. As you can see it is still big on her. Additionally, the coverall has a relaxed fit so you can easily put somethi...

Baby gift: Grow on romper

A piece of baby clothing that can be worn for 9 months, or 3 years, how amazing does that sound?  A new baby was born, which meant sewing a baby gift. Already some time ago I bought the  Grow on Romper  by  Apple Tree Sewing . This pattern intrigued me because you can make it bigger as your baby grows. How perfect is that?   The idea is that the pattern has three size ranges and that the child can wear the garment for a longer period of time by certain tricks that are build in the pattern. Isn't that a great idea? T he Grow on Romper has three sizes: 3-12 months, 1-3 years and 3-6 years.  Especially with the younger kids they sometimes outgrow their homemade clothing so soon. With these grow on type of patterns they can actually wear their homemade clothing for a longer period, I love the idea! I hacked the Grow on Romper by making it sleeveless, only later on did I see there was actually a tutorial for making the romper sleeveless, o...
