Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...

The spirited dress by Candice Ayala Patterns in OT18

Summer sewing has started! When I saw the Spirited Dress, I though it would be perfect for our girl! That neckline, so beautiful and a skirt that twirls, that is what she loves! And indeed she loves the dress!  The Spirited Dress *  fro m One Thimble 18 has a Queen Anne neckline, a true royal dress with a royal neckline. For the bodice it is important to use a fabric which is  stable  enough but still has some stretch in order to show the beautiful neckline. I used sweat fabric and it turned out great! The dress does not have a closure at the back so our girl can put on the dress herself. The size range of the dress is 2 - 9 years. I sewed the 2 years and lengthened the dress to 4 years. An extra bonus feature is the underpants that are also part of the pattern! How great is it that when your girls starts twirling they do not show their underwear but the matching underpants instead. Unfortunately I did not have the time to sew the pants, but I will for...

One Thimble 17: Big Day Out Jacket

I just love blog tours! It is so nice to see the different perspective of different sewers on the same projects. The One Thimble Magazine* is a great way to bet to know different designers in one magazine. For me this was my first time sewing something from One Thimble. Although I have sewed a pattern that was part of a previous version from One Thimble ( Orbis Sinny Harem Pants  by Sofilantjes in One Thimble 13 ).  In the newest One Thimble, issue 17 I sewed the Big Day Out Jacket by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns .  The Big Day Out Jacket is a denim jacket. My version looks like a denim jacket but actually I sewed the jacket from french terry and sweat fabrics with a denim look. With this jacket you can go all out! You can add embellishments, use different types of fabrics or different colours. It really is a garment you can go all out! I love the jacket! I have sewed an  Ainslee Fox Boutique pattern before when I sewed the wedding dress for...

Orbis Skinny Harem Blog Tour

I saw a call for a blog tour, a blog tour for Sofilantjes *!! Of course I jumped on that bandwagon as quickly as I could. I love the designs of Sofilantjes ! Who doesn't?! It was the blog tour for the Orbis Skinny Harem *, many of you have seen them as part of the One Thimble issue 13. From now on you can buy the Orbis Skinny Harem, both  the  English pattern  or het  Nederlandse patroon  at the website of  Sofilantjes . If you don't own it yet go get it now! The Orbis skinny harem is a great pattern. I like to sew pants that look different from the store bought ones. The Orbis skinny harem fits that description very well. The big pockets, the diagonal fly, I love the unique look of the pattern. The pockets are great for small treasured scraps of your favourite fabric.  I sewed the smallest size for our youngest girl (12M), she still wears cloth diapers, and the fit is great. It is a relaxed fit and is very comfortable to wear I would imagine. We ...
