Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

One Thimble 17: Big Day Out Jacket

I just love blog tours! It is so nice to see the different perspective of different sewers on the same projects. The One Thimble Magazine* is a great way to bet to know different designers in one magazine. For me this was my first time sewing something from One Thimble. Although I have sewed a pattern that was part of a previous version from One Thimble ( Orbis Sinny Harem Pants  by Sofilantjes in One Thimble 13 ).  In the newest One Thimble, issue 17 I sewed the Big Day Out Jacket by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns .  The Big Day Out Jacket is a denim jacket. My version looks like a denim jacket but actually I sewed the jacket from french terry and sweat fabrics with a denim look. With this jacket you can go all out! You can add embellishments, use different types of fabrics or different colours. It really is a garment you can go all out! I love the jacket! I have sewed an  Ainslee Fox Boutique pattern before when I sewed the wedding dress for...

Tea Party Dress & Chloe Cardigan- wedding outfit II

As some of you know, and most of you probably do not, we got married about a month ago. A lot of people asked me if I was going to sew my own wedding dress. Although I like a challenge, I found that challenge a bridge too far. Nevertheless, I did sew the dresses for our girls. It was a first for me to really go all the way by first sewing trial dresses and then sewing the final dresses. During our sewing weekend I sewed the test version of the azure party dress  (2Y-12) by Ainslee Fox and I was really happy with the result (as was our daughter). You can see the result in the post about our sewing weekend . For the final version I used the same pattern pieces. I went shopping at Cares Stoffen for fabric that matched my dress. The blush fabric that you see in the middle of the dress is a part of my wedding dress. My dress had to be shortened so some fabric was left over and I could take it with me. Cares Stoffen had all the fabric that I wanted, cotton for the top and bot...

Sewing Weekend! Win a Goodiebag!

I was also one of those 22 ladies that went on a sewing weekend last weekend. You might have seen already several posts from the other ladies of our awesome weekend away in Belgium. Read until the end of the post to take a chance in winning a goodiebag! As you can see many different garments were made. I made 5 in total, 2 for our girls, one gift and 2 for myself. I usually sew a lot for our girls, but not so much for myself. This was a great opportunity to spend some time on sewing for myself. One of the dresses that I made for our eldest is the Azure Party Dress by Ainslee Fox . I really love the dress, it is a party dress for sure, add some tule underneath and the party dress is complete. I made size 3 and it just fits perfectly. Our girl loves the dress with the robots, but then again she loves any dress in which she can twirl and she sure can in this dress. The dress is made from cotton and you can do some color blocking with all the different pattern pieces on the top pa...
