Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. A twisted outfit: Romy twist tee and skirt

Twisted and asymmetrical clothing are my weak spot, so I fell in love the moment I saw this outfit, the Adult Romy Twist Tee and Skirt from Petite Stitchery*. They look complicated and sophisticated, but they are actually very quick sews. The twist top has three different lengths, I made the regular top length, also the modest top length and mini top length are included in the pattern. I don't really see myself wearing anything shorter than the regular top length, but I must admit, everybody in the tester group looked great in the shorter top lengths. Besides the crew neck option, also a v-neck option is included and 4 different sleeve length. So you can make many different options with the twist tee. That skirt! Wow, it is just two pattern pieces, one for the skirt and one for the waistband, you need to fold and flip and there you are, you have your new twist skirt. Well not exactly, that is in theory how it works but it was a bit puzzling at first what should go where. I length...

Legends top 2.0 for myself

The Legends top by Stay + Stitch (previously known as Sew Straight and Gather), known for its beautiful neckline, has been updated with a new option of an A line bodice. I sewed the  legends top for our girl three years ago. It has been on my sewing list to sew one for myself. So now I got the chance to sew two Legends 2.0 with the new option for myself (if you already own the legends pattern the new update (Legends 2.0) will be in your account). The pattern is updated and now includes option A, the original fit, with a more fitted bodice and option B, an A line bodice. I sewed two tops during testing with option B.  Also the construction of the neckline has changed. Previously the front was fully lined, now a facing pattern piece is used for the neckline. I love this, as I found the double layer a bit too warm for summer weather.  First I sewed the red one, so I could match that with the pants I sewed recently. As this was sewed with a previous version of the pattern,...

Women's Aureum racerback dress

I love racerback tank tops, that is what I live in when the weather permits it. Sofilantjes * now has the perfect pattern for that the Aureum racerback top, tunic and dress  ( Nederlands ). It not only has the standard racerback option, it also includes three more beautiful back options. You just want to try them all! What I really like about this pattern is the different lengths and the different back options. It has four different length options, a top, tunic, dress and maxi length. In the photos shows the dress length (I also sewed up a top length during testing). Besides the simple back option that I sewed there are the drop shape, a 2 piece and a U shape back option. The pattern is great for sewing up basic tank tops, but also for a dressy maxi dress with an unique back option. Even just a great summer dress can be a possibility. This pattern is a must have! The only challenge is sewing the binding, that is really not my favourite. But after sewing three tops/dre...

Jalie's newest collection: Reversible Elle

Jalie released a new collection and I again got the opportunity to sew something from their new collection. I chose the reversible top: Elle . Elle is a loose fitting dolman top with a knot you can wear in the front of the back. I loved the design of the knot when I saw the first drawings. However, when I sewed it up I wasn't sure about it. It is a rather loose fit, which is not something I often wear. The recommended fabric for the top should have a minimum of 10% stretch. My fabric has more stretch so that makes it a bit more flowy.  After putting it on several times I am growing to like it. Probably with the knot in the back, or maybe with the knot in the front, what do you think? The top has two different sleeve lengths. I chose the extended sleeveless option. There is also a 3/4 sleeve option. If you look a loose fitting blouse I would choose the sizing that fits you, if you prefer a more fitted garment I would recommend sizing down. Of course the top comes in girls...

Women's Stonecrop Tank Top

The weather is great so time for tank tops. Tank tops are my favourite type of top to wear during summer. Two weeks ago I showed you the stonecrop tank top kids for our girls . Now also the  stonecrop tank top Adult by MW Patterns * is available. Once I sewed up the stonecrop tank top for our girls I knew I wanted one with those flattering side panels as well. Of course I love the pattern because of the colour blocking but also because of the side panels which are great for your figure. There is also a plain version of the tank top available and another colour blocking option, which I made for our middle daughter (you can see it here ). I really like the curved hem on the front. I am less a fan of the binding on the top. I have been sewing binding almost non stop the last weeks. So my binding skills have improved, still it is not my favourite sewing activity. Patterns by MW Patterns are not very cheap, so if you are interested in the Stonecrop Tank Top for Adults you shou...

Tamara top for me

Do you remember this dress with those cute bands on the back for our eldest? There is a women's version of that pattern and it is called the Tamara *. The Tamara by Annelaine Patterns has a top and a peplum/dress version , both include those cute back straps that I love in both the girl's  Tammy dress  that I made for our girl and this Tamara top. The Tamara top is a great pattern. It is a great fitting t-shirt pattern that has lots of options. It includes a top and tunic length, 3 different necklines (high front, middle front and low front), 3 different backs (high back, middle back and low back), 4 different types of sleeves (tank, dolman, flounce and long sleeves). It even has a slim fit option, you can add tabs to the sleeves, you can add the up to 3 straps to the back of the top and it has an optional banded hem. I made the dolman top with middle front and back with 2 straps.  There is also a  bundle  that includes both the Tamara top and dress f...

Orono Top by Itch to Stitch

Yay, a new Itch to Stitch pattern. I love patterns by Itch to Stitch *, I think they make up 75% of my wardrobe! Here is the Orono top ! What I like about the Itch to Stitch patterns is that I always learn a new technique. This time it is the pocket. You are being guided through the process and at the end you are amazed at how you created such a beautiful pocket. It is an inseam pocket that is attached to the front, although it looks like a welt pocket. The Orono top is designed for knit with little stretch, about 15-30%, so sweat knit and interlock work well with this pattern. It has raglan sleeves and shoulder darts, and as I said inseam pockets which are created in a great way. It also has a cowl that you can wear up or double folded as I did. The Orono Top is now on sale with 20% discount! Fabric : I bought this punta di roma fabric at Caresstoffen last week Pattern :  Orono top  by  Itch to Stitch # Fabric this week : 0 in - 1 out ( Total fabr...

Busan Top by Itch to Stitch

I am not a real fashionista like some seamstress are. I am more of a follower when it comes to fashion, or maybe a late follower. I usually don't really like all the new things that are 'hot' at the moment. Only after seeing things for a long time (a few years) I am like, 'that is actually quite nice'. However, now that I sew for myself and also test for myself these things sometimes change. I love to be challenged in life and that is what pattern testing does for me. Both in skills, but also sewing outside of my comfort zone when it comes to designs.  When I first saw the Busan top * by Itch to Stitch I wasn't sure whether it was something for me. But I love patterns by Itch to Stitch, so I decided to sign up for the test. I love the pleats! And now that it is finished I love it (and hopefully I am wearing something that is 'in' now 😉). My Christmas top is ready! I used punta di roma, which is one of my favourite types of fabric to sew with ...
