Colour block hoodie with a twist

With the colder weather I have started sewing sweaters, for our girls and for myself. My husband isn't really into hoodies, but after seeing mine, he was doubting, whether maybe he also wanted one for himself. Let me first show you my sweater. I used the Raglan hoodie with a twist from Made by Runi , which is pattern of the week this week so available with a discount. I used the fitted one for women, there is also a straight cut for men and a children's version . So you can sew one for the whole family . The Raglan hoodie with a twist has the same colour blocking as the hourglass dress that I made recently. I love this colour blocking it looks great! There is also a one piece bodice piece if you don't like the colour blocking. Additionally, there is the option of colour blocked shoulder pieces. The pattern includes a hood and a cowl. Hourglass dress

Looking for a flattering knit dress? The Hourglass dress from Made by Runi is just that. The hourglass shape in the dress accentuates your curves and gives the look of a slim waist. The hourglass dress is quite a quick sew I would say. Although it took me almost 4 hours because I wanted to make sure that it would not end up too tight around my hips. I added a bit more seam allowance (seam allowance isn't included in the patterns from Made by Runi anyways) to the dress pattern pieces, but it took me a couple of hours and many fittings to get it to the way I wanted. I don't like making a muslin and added too much seam allowance. It was totally my fault and not the pattern. Now I am really happy with the fit. It fits perfectly and still fits loose enough around my hips, the way I like it. Lesson learned! Purple isn't a colour I often wear, although I did make a purple top before. Every day Singoalla

When looking at the title you might think, ehh what? Right, apparently Singoalla refers to the elastic in this dress/top/jumpsuit. It makes sizing of this garment easy and sewing quick! So have a look at the new released Every day Singoalla from Made by Runi . It is discounted until 9.00 UTC +2. The everyday singoalla includes a top, a dress and a jumpsuit (short or long legs) with raglan sleeves. The sew is so quick, within an hour I finished my dress. The most important element is the elastic. I used the length of our girl as the size and that works perfectly, it is a great summer dress (or top or jumpsuit) and starts at size 50. Great for small babies as well during warm weather. The pattern is designed for knit, although I can image it would work just as well for woven fabrics. It's a wrap dress

A couple of weeks ago our eldest was wearing this dress from her (when her girls outgrow her handmade clothing we receive it 😊). And our eldest loves that dress, especially because of the wrap element (I also think she loves the retro element of the fabric although she doesn't realise that yet). So I thought the It's a wrap dress from Made by Runi would be a perfect match. Our eldest even picked out the fabric for the dress, so there is nothing in the way of this dress becoming a favourite. The dress has the option of adding the ruffle or leaving the ruffle off (there are two length for with or without the ruffle). I opted for adding a ruffle to the skirt only. There is also the possibility of adding a ruffle to the top bodice. Fairy princess dresses

Our favourite dress from Made by Runi for our girls, me and my husband is the Fairy princess dress. Here you can find the previous one that I sewed. I just love that double skirt with the high-low of the top skirt. So during my last sewing weekend I sewed two for our two eldest girls. I could not really decide on whether long or short sleeves would be the best thing, I made one with long sleeves for our eldest and one with short sleeves for our middle one. I never buy fabric for a certain project, which sometimes makes it a challenge to get the pattern pieces out of the fabric. The dresses have full circle skirts and I wanted to make the skirt for the middle one not as big. With the help of her I made a 3/4 circle skirt. A couple of weeks ago I went fabric shopping with her at the Nooteboom Textiles store, wow, what a dream place is that. Basic raglan for my man

Last weekend I went on a sewing weekend and I try to make something for everybody during such a weekend. For my husband I made another t-shirt. This time I used the Basic Raglan by Made by Runi . It is a great basic pattern that works well and is sewed together very quickly. I let my husband pick out the fabric and I must say I like the combination that he picked out! There is not much else to say about this project other than it was finished within an hour and it makes a happy man. He feels a bit neglected when it comes to sewing. I sewed 11 items during the sewing weekend, 5 for our eldest, 3 for our middle one, 2 for our youngest and just 1 for him. Problem solving with take the plunge

This year, 2020, has been a challenging sewing year. I guess being busy and trying to fit the sewing in between all the activities and being sleep deprived are not the best circumstances. Just like with this top I had some cutting issues. I had to get creative and solve some fabric issues but I love the Take the plunge from Made by Runi . The first thing I like about the Take the plunge top is the lower back reduction. I usually take out excess fabric at the back so when I saw this option I wanted to try it out and it works great. No cutting issues here yet... Because I already did not have the right height of my fabric to cut out the second sleeve I added an extra colour block. I love colour blocks and asymmetrical garments are even better. Only when I started sewing did I realise I cut out the wrong front piece (as in another back piece). Hacked fairytale dress, twinning with the doll

The fairytale hoodie is one of my favorite patterns from Made by Runi . I love the skirt of the hoodie. Since our girl prefers dresses over vests, I hacked the fairytale hoodie by taking out the zipper and sewing a dress. The first fairytale hoodie that I made is still one of her favorite coats (too cold now unfortunately). Besides omitting the zipper I also added 3 cm to the bottom of the skirt. Next time I would add even more (probably about 5 cm). The hoodie is not designed to be a dress (lengthwise), but I prefer the dresses I sew to be on the knees so they can wear them for a year of longer. Cute as a cupcake

I love those high-low tunics, peplum tops and dresses. Made by Runi has quite a few of those garments, which I made already. Have a look at the cozy dress , the fairytale hoodie and the fairy princess dress that I made. Also the Cute as a Cupcake peplum has a high-low skirt. The Cute as a cupcake has three length options, a t-shirt, a peplum (which I made) and a dress length. I lengthened the peplum with 1,5 cm so our girl can wear it as a short dress with leggings underneath. Our girl especially loves the flutter sleeves. The flutter sleeves with long sleeves are perfect for fall and winter, you get the fun part of the flutter sleeves, but warm enough during colder weather.
