Sew Cucio

The Stella Jumpsuit from Sofilantjes * has been on my sewing list for a long time. I wanted to sew it since our youngest was born, 2 years ago. This summer I just had to sew it since she will outgrow the sizes soon and I wanted to make a summer Stella with short sleeves. You must recognise the fabric from  these dresses . Yes, I bought it on the bold at Nooteboom and I love it. It a very soft fabric and flows so nice. There is still some left. Now all the girls at home have a garment in this fabric. Our husband is the only one missing out, but he doesn't like twinning with us unfortunately. Well too bad for him. The Stella Jumpsuit starts at size 50 (NB) and goes up to size 92 (2Y). I made a 74 chest size with a 86 length.  The Stella is the perfect newborn gift but it also works well for toddlers. Those jumpsuits look so cute on them when they walk around. Meet Gemma Twin set from Sofilantjes* . It is a great set that includes a top and a bottom. I have made 4 tops and 4 bottoms and can say we love them all! The Gemma twin set ( Nederlands patroon ) includes a top with short or long sleeves and for the bottom you have the choice of a culottes or a skirt. We all love the culottes because they look like a skirt, however it is just as practical as a short. You can use both woven and knit fabrics for the culottes. Our eldest is wearing a culotte that I made with knit viscose, so a very nice and flowy fabric. For our middle one I used a woven fabric, 100% viscose rayon. During testing I used 100% cotton fabric, which also works well although the culottes is not as flowy. I do like the more wider look of the cotton fabric. Our girls love their skirt (although they asked me why there was a piece of fabric between their legs...). Important with this new add on is the length of the bodice of the dress. The bodice needs to end in the waist, measure from shoulder to waist before you start cutting. If the bodice is longer than the waist the back might start gaping and that is not what you want right? So adjust...

After the Aureum Women it is time for the Aureum girls from Sofilantjes *! Yay! Twinning to the max with my two eldest girls. I made maxi dresses for all three of us. Just like with the Aureum Women  ( Nederlands ), the Aureum girls has four different back options. In the picture above you see three of the options. During the test for the women's Aureum I sewed three Aureums with option A. You can see the final dress with option A  here . During the girl's test I got the chance to sew option C (on my maxi dress) and D (the one on the right). Only option B remained. I asked our eldest which option she wanted and she chose option B (the one on the left). I cannot choose which option I like best, each option has something I like.  I got to sew maxi length during testing. Our eldest loves maxi dresses, she has several in her closet. I love my Vallis , it is the perfect summer dress. So I decided to also sew one for our eldest. Last summer it was already on my list to sew one for our eldest. But again, it didn't happen until I went on our sewing weekend . Here is the girl's Vallis from Sofilantjes * for our eldest. I love the asymmetrical skirt of the dress. I used the same option for my own dress. Just like with this dress I added some colour blocking because I didn't have enough fabric. There are three hemming options for this dress. A 3/4 circle skirt with a round hem, a 3/4 circle skirt with a handkerchief hem (so four square corners) or a 3/4 circle skirt with an asymmetrical hem (round on one side and with a square corner on the other side). I love racerback tank tops, that is what I live in when the weather permits it. Sofilantjes * now has the perfect pattern for that the Aureum racerback top, tunic and dress  ( Nederlands ). It not only has the standard racerback option, it also includes three more beautiful back options. You just want to try them all! What I really like about this pattern is the different lengths and the different back options. It has four different length options, a top, tunic, dress and maxi length. In the photos shows the dress length (I also sewed up a top length during testing). Besides the simple back option that I sewed there are the drop shape, a 2 piece and a U shape back option. The pattern is great for sewing up basic tank tops, but also for a dressy maxi dress with an unique back option. Even just a great summer dress can be a possibility. This pattern is a must have! I love sewing for babies, even though our baby is not that small anymore. Those small pieces of clothing and bodysuits or onesies are always so cute when you are done. And bodysuits are always useful and  Sofilantjes * just released a new one, the Advena bodysuit  (ook in het Nederlands ).  Bodysuits and onesies are very grateful projects because they are worn every single day. The Advena bodysuit is a great basic for your collection. It has the regular neckline that I sewed but there is also an asymmetrical neckline option with just one shoulder having a fold over binding. I think that is also a cute detail and definitely an unique detail. Our girl wears cloth diapers and this bodysuit fits very well over cloth diapers as well as regular diapers. Also the length of the bodysuit works well with cloth diapers. You use the trunk length to decide on the length of the bodysuit you sew.
