Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

A spring inspired misusu outfit: Doris & Piper

Joining an inspirational tour is always exciting (+ Giveaway!). This time I am joining the spring inspiration tour of Misusu where in total 35 bloggers are showing you inspiration with the Piper Tank Top combined with the Doris skirt or the Alex Joggers (which are now available in a bundle). Also more on the giveaway below! I was part of the testing team when the Doris skirt was released 2 years ago. I sewed two skirts during testing. Actually our middle girl, for which I sewed this set, actually fits these skirt at the moment. So she has three Doris skirts in her closet. I love the design of the Doris skirt with the back fabric peeping in the front. I added flat piping to accentuate the line of the pockets and the tapered shape of the skirt. And that waistband, I love the originality of the skirt! The Piper Tank Top was a new pattern for me. Wow that pattern is packed with lots of options which makes it suitable for both boys and girls. It has four different back op...

Diamonds and kangaroos are a girl's best friend

A lot of people already know the Dia Sweater by Misusu . It is a sweater with a great diamond in the middle of the sweater. Now it has been updated! In addition to the children sizes there is also a women's version of the sweater . Also the sizes have been extended (80-164 which is 9-12M - 13-14Y) and a tunic version has been added. The pattern has lots of options. You can make a regular sweater, high low sweater, regular tunic and high low tunic. During testing I made two different versions for our middle girl. First I made the tunic (or dress version in the case of small girl) because I just love sewing dresses. I used different colours to highlight the different pattern pieces. For the diamond I used glitter sweat, which of course is very much appreciated by our girl. I love how the different pattern pieces are great for colour blocking. However, if you are not so much into colour blocking have a look at my tunic, where I did not go bold on colour blocking. For the se...

Misusu FREEkin' Sewing Challenge: Max meets Lotte

I love patterns by Misusu, so when I saw the call for a blog tour by Misusu I jumped on the occasion and I was selected! Woohoo!  Today is my day to inspire you for the Misusu FREEkin' Sewing Challenge. You only have a couple of days left to participate in the challenge (until Saturday August 18th). I love to see your creations! More on the challenge and the giveaway below. For my creation I used the free pattern the  Max Tee  and mashed it with the  Lotte Dress  (a paid pattern by Misusu). The Max Tee has a bib closure, which makes it easy to put over the head. What is unique about this Tee is that you can combine knit and woven in this pattern. You can make the bib part out of knit or woven. I really love patterns that match knit with woven. I have sewed two  Louise sweaters  by Misusu in which you can also combine knit and woven (I combined two stretch fabrics). The Lotte top, tunic and dress is a pattern in which you can also combine kni...

Doris skirt by Misusu

Have you seen and sewn a pattern by Misusu ? If you haven't you should meet Misusu. They have very original and unique sewing patterns. I have sewed Louise Sweaters before and a couple of other patterns are in my pattern stash and now it is time to meet the newest addition, the Doris skirt ! Today I am part of the social tour for the Doris skirt and I am showing you the two doris skirts that I sewed during testing. The first version I sewed is the cactus skirt. The doris skirt has geometrical lines which is perfect for colour blocking and using piping. For the first version I used one type of fabric for the main pattern pieces and added piping in between to accentuate the lines of the skirt. There are two different versions you can sew. For the cactus skirt I sewed the version with one piece for the back of the skirt. If you want to colour block even more (like I do) there is also the option to sew the skirt in two pieces, like I did with the second skirt (with the tria...
