Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Glow in the dark twinning pjs

Our girls love pjs and of course nightgowns are the best. I have already sewed several nightgowns, this one with long sleeves and a ruffle at the bottom, this sleeveless one and another long sleeved one . This time I used a free pattern the  Grow with me Pajamas  by  Ellie and Mac Sewing Patterns *. I thought glow in the dark fabric would be perfect for nightgowns for our girls. The Grow with me pajamas is a very versatile pattern as you can sew for your boys and girls from this pattern and it is for free! It includes pants, a nightgown and several optional features. This pattern only includes long sleeves, but  I cut off part of the sleeves to create short sleeves. I used different colours for the colour block because I knew it would be difficult to recognise each size of pjs after laundry. Still I am struggling to remember which colour belongs to who again.  The girls love their nightgowns. I did lessen the flaring out of the nightgowns because ...

A dress for the night: Nora Kate Nightgown

Our girl loves nightgowns and was is need of new pjs. The Nora Kate Nightgown * by  Annelaine Patterns  is just perfect for the occasion, especially with the winter season coming up. I love patterns that have many options. Annelaine Patterns have many options, which means you can use the pattern several times and make a different option every time. Also with this nightgown you can use it for any season in different lengths. I made the calf length with the tall ruffle (there is also a less tall ruffle). But since our girl loves long dresses, I made the longest nightgown that was possible. The nightgown is an easy sew and it does not use too much fabric, which I love. I used about 70 cm from the giraffe fabric. After making photos our girl kept the nightgown on for the rest of the day (we were not going outside anymore) and slept in it. So it was a great succes! Annelaine Patterns is having a Black Fall Sale, which means 50% off all non-clearance patterns, through ...

Starry Night PJs by Sofiona Designs

Our girl loves dresses. She wants to wear dresses all time, which means day and night! Nightgowns are thus a must! Sofiona Designs  released besides the Railway Joggers and two other patterns also the Starry Night PJs .  Although we are moving into winter season I loved the design of this pattern and wanted to test the pattern. I love the racer back and the loose fit. There is also a t-shirt version included with PJ pants in long, 3/4 or short pants. Of course the ruffle can also be omitted. If you love the designs by Sofiona Designs as much as I do go over to the Facebook group to stay tuned in what is coming next and see the other patterns that have been released. It is quite a quick sew, however making photos of PJs was a new challenge. Of course you can go outside, however, as I said the weather is getting colder, so that was not an option. I really feel that with PJs the surrounding do matter in the photo, so I wanted to use the bedroom in the photo. But sitti...

Sweet Dreams Nightgown

Our girl is a dress kind a girl, not only during the day, but also at night. Imagine, when you are dreaming, you want to wear a dress and not pants right?! So when I saw a pattern test for a nightgown I jumped on the tester call so I could make a nightgown for our girl. It is the Sweet Dreams Nightgown * by Mamma Can Do It . It includes sizes 3T to 16! There is also a Baby Sweet Dreams Nightgown starting at new born size. The next step was picking out fabric. Again I used a piece of fabric from our exchange pile during our sewing weekend . It was again a piece of fabric from Davina from Woohoo by Davina . She also made a dress with it. I took it home because I knew our girl would be over the moon about the fabric. Me, I was not the biggest fan, a bit too much for me. But then I was searching for fabric for a nightgown and I found this piece of fabric again, a match made in heaven I would say. Of course, now I love how the pattern matches the fabric! Then when I started c...
