Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

A dress for the night: Nora Kate Nightgown

Our girl loves nightgowns and was is need of new pjs. The Nora Kate Nightgown * by  Annelaine Patterns  is just perfect for the occasion, especially with the winter season coming up. I love patterns that have many options. Annelaine Patterns have many options, which means you can use the pattern several times and make a different option every time. Also with this nightgown you can use it for any season in different lengths. I made the calf length with the tall ruffle (there is also a less tall ruffle). But since our girl loves long dresses, I made the longest nightgown that was possible. The nightgown is an easy sew and it does not use too much fabric, which I love. I used about 70 cm from the giraffe fabric. After making photos our girl kept the nightgown on for the rest of the day (we were not going outside anymore) and slept in it. So it was a great succes! Annelaine Patterns is having a Black Fall Sale, which means 50% off all non-clearance patterns, through ...

Cute scallops

Did you see the cute Tangerine dress by Annelaine patterns * with the cute scalloped hem? It was released not too long ago. And now the women's version is also available! I love that hem, it makes the dress just so cute! The dress is a quick sew, which is great. Even the neckline and the arms are just folded in and sewn together. Only the scalloped hem takes some time. You really have to take your time to make it look nice. But it is such an unique detail, don't you think? The pattern has several options. It has four different dress options, a one piece dress with a skater style dress or with an A-line dress. With the two piece dress you can choose between adding an elastic waist or without the elastic waist. Additionally, there are four types of sleeves included (sleeveless, short sleeves, 3/4 sleeves and long sleeves) and there are two types of hems, the scalloped hem and a straight hem. I sewed the two piece dress with a skater line dress with short sleeves and a...

Tamara top for me

Do you remember this dress with those cute bands on the back for our eldest? There is a women's version of that pattern and it is called the Tamara *. The Tamara by Annelaine Patterns has a top and a peplum/dress version , both include those cute back straps that I love in both the girl's  Tammy dress  that I made for our girl and this Tamara top. The Tamara top is a great pattern. It is a great fitting t-shirt pattern that has lots of options. It includes a top and tunic length, 3 different necklines (high front, middle front and low front), 3 different backs (high back, middle back and low back), 4 different types of sleeves (tank, dolman, flounce and long sleeves). It even has a slim fit option, you can add tabs to the sleeves, you can add the up to 3 straps to the back of the top and it has an optional banded hem. I made the dolman top with middle front and back with 2 straps.  There is also a  bundle  that includes both the Tamara top and dress f...

Bubby & Bee Hoodie without the hood

If you are looking for a hoodie with lots of options, you can stop looking, the Bubby & Bee Hoodie * by Annelaine Patterns has lots, and I mean lots of options! The Bubby & Bee Hoodie even has an option without a hood. That is what I chose as our girl doesn't like hoods. I chose a tunic length with two ruffles at the bottom with heart shaped pockets.  Other options include: a placket, vest with zipper, keyhole hood, horizontal and vertical colour blocking options, stripes on the arms, kangaroo and heart pockets, regular, tunic, dress and knee length options, banded bottoms or a ruffled bottom. And you can all interchange them. So basically you can make any type of hoodie you want with different options each time.  I really like the size range of Annelaine Patterns, they come in sizes 9M up to 20!! I bought the pattern right away when it was released more than a year ago because I loved the double ruffled tunic. I knew our girl would love the ruffles too...

How to Colour Block the Coffee and Tea Cardigan?

Another video tutorial. Again with colour blocking. Do you see a pattern in my tutorials? I just love colour blocking! So I made another video tutorial for the video party! This time on how to colour block the Coffee and Tea Cardigan by Annelaine Patterns . The Coffee and Tea Cardigan has two different types of cardigans in the pattern and is therefore perfect for adding a colour block. Do you want to know how to color block the coffee and tea cardigan? Have a look at the video tutorial I made: The Coffee and Tea Cardigan comes is sizes 9M until 18 and also comes in women's sizing . Both types of cardigan have two different lengths, classic or duster length, fitted or relaxed sleeves, short or long sleeves, the option of adding cuffs or not and the option of adding pockets to the cardigan. I used the duster length of the Coffee Cardigan for our 2 year old. I also added a colour block to the sleeves as I did not have enough of the panda fabric to complete the long sl...

Honey Bee Swimsuit by Annelaine Patterns

Are you afraid of sewing a swimsuit? I kind of was, although I did see the potential of sewing your own swimsuit (well for our girls at least). So when I saw a tester call for a super cute swimsuit, I jumped on the challenge and applied. The Honey Bee Swimsuit/Leotard * by Annelaine Patterns is a one piece swimsuit/leotard. What I love about the swimsuit are the straps on the back, although you can also omit these if you like (the straps will stay up). In total there are six straps, but you can add as many or few as you like. The fit of the swimsuit is perfect and comes in sizes 6M - 24M (babies) and 2 - 20. You can choose whether to sew in elastic in the arms or legs or add bands. Additionally, you can line the swimsuit or leotard or make an unlined version. Since I did not have any swimsuit fabric at home, (so much fabric in my stash, but not any swimsuit fabric), meant I had to do some shopping. I sewed two during testing, but I am only showing you the final version at t...

Tammy dress by Annelaine Patterns

Summer sewing has started! We are still waiting for summer temperatures to arrive, but at least every once in a while the sun is showing itself. The  Tammy dress *  from  Annelaine Patterns  is perfect for summer! The Tammy dress comes in a wide size range from 9M - 20 and has several options. Our girl picked out the fabric of the bodice. It is from Lillestoff. I used this fabric already before. I pre-selected a couple of fabric choices from my stash for her. I am really trying to use the fabric that I already own for a longer period. The fabric for the skirt is also already in my stash for a long period of time and it is a very flowy fabric. I find it quite a challenge to sew with, and it easily gathers. Therefore, I thought it would be great to make a gathered skirt with it. The pattern also has the option of a circle skirt, for peplum/tunic length or dress length. The unique element of this dress are the straps on the back. There are 6 different...

Firecracker (maxi) Dress

There is a new pattern in town, perfect for summer! The Firecracker Dress * by Annelaine Patterns . I made two versions during testing, one with dress length and one with maxi length. Our daughter loves the maxi dress, she feels so grown up in it. Even though I don’t own a maxi dress… The Firecracker Cress by Annelaine Patterns (9M-14) is a dress pattern that is released for the 4th of July celebrations. Here in the Netherlands it is just a regular day. The dress is an easy sew up with a lovely back detail. The best part is that our daughter can dress herself in it. Because of the crossed straps, she can step into and out of the dress herself. She cannot put things over her own head yet. But this dress she can put on herself. Yeay for girls who want to do everything themselves! The first dress I am showing is the final version of the pattern. I bought the fabric in Italy and when I showed it to our eldest, she didn’t like it at all. It think because of the black color. Becaus...
