Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Tammy dress by Annelaine Patterns

Summer sewing has started! We are still waiting for summer temperatures to arrive, but at least every once in a while the sun is showing itself. The Tammy dress* from Annelaine Patterns is perfect for summer!
The Tammy dress comes in a wide size range from 9M - 20 and has several options. Our girl picked out the fabric of the bodice. It is from Lillestoff. I used this fabric already before. I pre-selected a couple of fabric choices from my stash for her. I am really trying to use the fabric that I already own for a longer period. The fabric for the skirt is also already in my stash for a long period of time and it is a very flowy fabric. I find it quite a challenge to sew with, and it easily gathers. Therefore, I thought it would be great to make a gathered skirt with it. The pattern also has the option of a circle skirt, for peplum/tunic length or dress length.
The unique element of this dress are the straps on the back. There are 6 different options for the straps on the back, one or two straps, in a cross or just straight. I really like that element of the dress. If you like dresses with straps on the back, you should also have a look at the Firecracker dress that I sewed last year from Annelaine Patterns. The firecracker dress is the perfect dress for warm summer weather.
Additionally, you can choose for the optional sleeve tabs, I think they are cute. And of course, great to use for different fabrics. I attached the sleeve tabs with kam snaps, in a flower form. She, from Inspiration, gifted me several flower kam snaps and they fit perfect with the fabric.
What I also really like about the pattern is that you can get the Tammy dress in a bundle with the doll pattern. I love that idea and I think our girl would too. Unfortunately I did not have the time to finish the dolls dress in time for the pictures.

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
