Sew Cucio

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. With the colder weather I have started sewing sweaters, for our girls and for myself. My husband isn't really into hoodies, but after seeing mine, he was doubting, whether maybe he also wanted one for himself. Let me first show you my sweater. I used the Raglan hoodie with a twist from Made by Runi , which is pattern of the week this week so available with a discount. I used the fitted one for women, there is also a straight cut for men and a children's version . So you can sew one for the whole family . The Raglan hoodie with a twist has the same colour blocking as  the hourglass dress  that I made recently. I love this colour blocking it looks great! There is also a one piece bodice piece if you don't like the colour blocking. Additionally, there is the option of colour blocked shoulder pieces. The pattern includes a hood and a cowl. Well get your zippers ready because everybody will want arm pockets after seeing this amazing hoodie. It is the Clover hoodie from Sofiona Designs . It is an amazing sweater with lots of colour block options and that pocket... The Clover hoodie has many different options. It has three different styles for the front and back of the bodice. I made view A (see the pictures af the bottom of this blog post with the cactus fabric) and view B (with the unicorns). There is also a view C with no style lines in the bodice. View A is great for combing different fabrics and if you like colour blocking like I do. View B has fewer sewing lines and after seeing people in our tester group using piping I wanted to try that. Today the second Miss pattern (sizes 0-20) by Sofiona Designs is released. The Bonfire hoodie was already released for girls (sizes 2-16) now you can twin with your girl with your own Miss Bonfire sweater. I was one of the lucky testers and am going to show you two sweaters that I sewed during testing. This black sweater is the final pattern (I will show another one that I made with a previous version of the pattern). Miss Bonfire is just a winner because of all the options that are included. I love the colour block options. The front is great for beautiful treasured pieces of fabric and I love the colour blocked sleeves, definitely a great aspect of the pattern! Additionally, I love the curve of the hem, shorter on the front and longer on the back. You will never have a cold back again! Another must in a pattern is pockets. It is not just our girls who request pockets I also love it when a pattern has pockets (where else do you store your phone if you are wearing a skirt?...

The patterns by Sofiona Designs are always something special. Also this time, the Tide and the Tundra  will win over your heart.  Let's start with the Tide , a halter top/dress, with a lovely back and cute straps in the neck. I of course love the colour block detail on the back sides, great for using those beautiful scraps. I love that you can still see some nice details with the Tundra sweater on top of the Tide top. Since fall in setting in here, the Tide will not see much sun without the Tundra, it will be too cold, but in combination it is perfect for fall weather. I sewed the full circle peplum top. The pattern also includes a dress length and a half circle skirt for both the peplum and dress length. So depending on the amount of fabric you can choose your options. I would recommend a strap turning tool for turning the straps to the right side. For this test I sewed two Tundra's. The Tundra crop sweater is just perfect for fall or winter...

I met Isabel four years ago when it was the first time our sewing weekend was organised. There are so many talented ladies in our sewing weekend group and Isabel is one of them. Our eldest girl does not like straight skirts (unless they are so long that they touch the ground) or sweaters, so I did not sew the Isa sweater for girls. When I saw the test for the ladies Isa sweater I thought it would be great for me. I mean colour blocking is always great isn't it? So here is my version of the Isa sweater  ( Nederlands patroon ) by Bel'Etoile . I made the colour block version with just two fabrics. You can also make a V shape with 3 fabrics. In my sweater the V shape continues onto the sleeves, but you can also choose not to colour block your sleeves. The pattern also includes a crop top, a dress and a hood, so many different options in just one pattern! The size range of the pattern goes from 32 (for teens) to 48.
