Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Tide and Tundra

The patterns by Sofiona Designs are always something special. Also this time, the Tide and the Tundra will win over your heart. 
Let's start with the Tide, a halter top/dress, with a lovely back and cute straps in the neck. I of course love the colour block detail on the back sides, great for using those beautiful scraps. I love that you can still see some nice details with the Tundra sweater on top of the Tide top. Since fall in setting in here, the Tide will not see much sun without the Tundra, it will be too cold, but in combination it is perfect for fall weather.
I sewed the full circle peplum top. The pattern also includes a dress length and a half circle skirt for both the peplum and dress length. So depending on the amount of fabric you can choose your options. I would recommend a strap turning tool for turning the straps to the right side.
For this test I sewed two Tundra's. The Tundra crop sweater is just perfect for fall or winter weather to put on top of a dress or peplum top. The peplum top still peaks out under the sweater. Our girl also loves the sweater on top of pants. I am in love with the V neck on the back of the sweater, perfect for showing off a little bit of the garment underneath the sweater, especially with the cute Tide underneath it.
The sweater has a relaxed fit with dropped shoulders and a slightly curved back hem. Additionally, there is the option of sewing the bodice facing to the right side or the wrong side. For the second Tundra, the yellow Tundra, I sewed the facing to the inside and topstitched the facing. There are two different lengths of the sweater included, a cropped and a waist length. I sewed two waist length sweaters.
For the first red tundra I sewed the bodice facing to the outside of the sweater and I love the result. I flipped the fabric so that the wrong side of the fabric is showing, it gives the sweater such a nice detail. The red sweater is sewed with a previous version of the pattern, the yellow sweater is made with the final pattern. The sleeves in the red pattern were made a bit smaller in the final pattern.
Fabric: the purple bird fabric was a leftover from the exchange stash in our sewing weekend. The red french terry and yellow sweater knit

Sizing: 2 - 16Y
Options: Tide: skirt can be peplum or knee length, includes a darted bodice for sizes 8-16 (regular bodice available for all sizes).
Tundra: cropped or waist length, long sleeves, 3/4 cuffed sleeves and short sleeves. Neckline facing can be sewed on the wrong or right side of the bodice.
Difficulty: both are beginning sewing patterns

    I love the yellow tundra especially! It looks so cozy. The tide really dresses up this combination, though!

One Thimble 17: Big Day Out Jacket

I just love blog tours! It is so nice to see the different perspective of different sewers on the same projects. The One Thimble Magazine* is a great way to bet to know different designers in one magazine. For me this was my first time sewing something from One Thimble. Although I have sewed a pattern that was part of a previous version from One Thimble ( Orbis Sinny Harem Pants  by Sofilantjes in One Thimble 13 ).  In the newest One Thimble, issue 17 I sewed the Big Day Out Jacket by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns .  The Big Day Out Jacket is a denim jacket. My version looks like a denim jacket but actually I sewed the jacket from french terry and sweat fabrics with a denim look. With this jacket you can go all out!
