Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Nivalis Nursing Hack Tutorial

I love to sew clothing that are nursing friendly now that our baby girl is born. Or even hack patterns so that they become nursing friendly. Today I am showing you how to hack the Nivalis dress for Women by Sofilantjes * to make it nursing friendly. I also wrote the tutorial in Dutch so see below for the Dutch description. In addition to the nursing hack I also hemmed the sleeves differently. I liked the inside of the fabric and therefore just put the wrong sides of the fabric together and sewed it together with a very small zig zag stitch. In order to make it nursing friendly I added an invisible zipper to the colour block. I added a second invisible zipper head so that you can open the zipper from two sides. When the zipper is closed both zipper heads will be together either on the left or the right side. So now on to the nursing hack. Hope you like it, if anything is unclear let me know! Aveiro Cardigan by Itch to Stitch

We are moving towards fall and every now and then we need some fall clothing. What I always wear during fall season are cardigans. It is great to put one over a t-shirt or take it with you when it will get colder at night. I have many different cardigans in different colours, because they need to match your clothing, right?! The Aveiro Cardigan * by Itch to Stitch is therefore a must have in your wardrobe! The Aveiro Cardigan has several options, a bolero, a short cardigan, a regular cardigan and a long cardigan and you can opt for short or long sleeves. So basically all types of cardigans are covered in this awesome pattern. And of course as I am used to with Itch to Stitch patterns, the fit is spot on! I sewed the regular cardigan with long sleeves and I used snaps as closure for the cardigan as suggested in the pattern. Of course you can also use buttons, but then you have to sew buttonholes, not my favourite activity. Although 130 cm is advised for the cardigan I mana...

How to Colour Block the Coffee and Tea Cardigan?

Another video tutorial. Again with colour blocking. Do you see a pattern in my tutorials? I just love colour blocking! So I made another video tutorial for the video party! This time on how to colour block the Coffee and Tea Cardigan by Annelaine Patterns . The Coffee and Tea Cardigan has two different types of cardigans in the pattern and is therefore perfect for adding a colour block. Do you want to know how to color block the coffee and tea cardigan? Have a look at the video tutorial I made: The Coffee and Tea Cardigan comes is sizes 9M until 18 and also comes in women's sizing . Both types of cardigan have two different lengths, classic or duster length, fitted or relaxed sleeves, short or long sleeves, the option of adding cuffs or not and the option of adding pockets to the cardigan. I used the duster length of the Coffee Cardigan for our 2 year old. I also added a colour block to the sleeves as I did not have enough of the panda fabric to complete the long sl...

First day at school dress - Wendybird dress times two

Something about a donkey that doesn't hurts itself twice on the same stone (Dunglish expression), or in correct English a fox is not caught twice in the same snare. I sewed the Wendybird dress  by Stitch Upon a Time* for our eldest for her first day at school. But something went wrong while cutting of the fabric.  The first dress I sewed is the frog dress with the blue and yellow stripes.  Well actually several things went wrong when cutting the skirt panel.  First, I mixed up the width and height of the panel piece. The stripes were supposed to be horizontal instead of vertical, well I do not mind the mix up. Second, the pattern piece for the skirt panel (the stripe fabric in the skirt) is written down in measurements in the pattern instead of having a pattern piece. Of course I forgot, or at least didn't think of it during cutting, that I used a different size for the width of the dress as for the length. So my skirt panel was quite a bit shorter than the ot...
