Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley. Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Colour block hoodie with a twist

With the colder weather I have started sewing sweaters, for our girls and for myself. My husband isn't really into hoodies, but after seeing mine, he was doubting, whether maybe he also wanted one for himself. Let me first show you my sweater. I used the Raglan hoodie with a twist from Made by Runi , which is pattern of the week this week so available with a discount. I used the fitted one for women, there is also a straight cut for men and a children's version . So you can sew one for the whole family . The Raglan hoodie with a twist has the same colour blocking as the hourglass dress that I made recently. I love this colour blocking it looks great! Muse playsuit re-release

I love playsuits, don't you? They look so cute on babies. But then babies grow up, so with our youngest still a bit baby like I need to sew up all the playsuits because once they get potty trained they are not that useful anymore. Cute as a cupcake

I love those high-low tunics, peplum tops and dresses. Made by Runi has quite a few of those garments, which I made already. Have a look at the cozy dress , the fairytale hoodie and the fairy princess dress that I made. Also the Cute as a Cupcake peplum has a high-low skirt. The Cute as a cupcake has three length options, a t-shirt, a peplum (which I made) and a dress length. I lengthened the peplum with 1,5 cm so our girl can wear it as a short dress with leggings underneath. Our girl especially loves the flutter sleeves. Cross my heart cardigan

My first project during our sewing weekend was the cross my heart cardigan by Max and Meena patterns . During my pattern tests I usually sew for our two older girls. So it was time to sew something for our smallest girl. I saw this pattern already long before but bought it when we were expecting our youngest. I think it looks so cute! And after sewing I can say it is a great pattern too. I like the little straps that are used for the snaps. They are just brilliant because they do not stretch and therefore the snaps do not have the possibility of tearing the fabric. I didn't think to take any ribbon with me during the sewing weekend. But luckily there was somebody who did! And she just had the perfect match to the fabric, I love that little detail. Colour blocked Isa for women

I met Isabel four years ago when it was the first time our sewing weekend was organised. There are so many talented ladies in our sewing weekend group and Isabel is one of them. Our eldest girl does not like straight skirts (unless they are so long that they touch the ground) or sweaters, so I did not sew the Isa sweater for girls. When I saw the test for the ladies Isa sweater I thought it would be great for me. I mean colour blocking is always great isn't it? So here is my version of the Isa sweater ( Nederlands patroon ) by Bel'Etoile . I made the colour block version with just two fabrics. You can also make a V shape with 3 fabrics. In my sweater the V shape continues onto the sleeves, but you can also choose not to colour block your sleeves. The pattern also includes a crop top, a dress and a hood, so many different options in just one pattern! The size range of the pattern goes from 32 (for teens) to 48. Celia dress from Fibre Mood

There are always "first times". This is a first time for me using a pattern from Fibre Mood *. Fibre Mood is a new Belgian sewing magazine that you can find in the bookstores, but you can also buy the patterns online. I had the opportunity to choose one pattern to sew up for the Linkparty #7 by Fribre Mood. I chose the Celia dress . I love asymmetrical dresses, so when I saw the Celia I knew I just had to sew it (and I was lucky enough to be able to sew the Celia). The dress is perfect for sweat or thicker fabrics because it has a loose fit. First, I sewed the size that would fit our middle daughter but I did not like the fit on her. So I decided to take in the sleeves and upper part of the dress with around 1,5 cm on each side. I like the fit so much better on her. The length is also still something she has to grow into, so she can wear the dress hopefully this season as well as next winter. Sometimes I know which combination of fabrics I am going to use. Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245) from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...
