Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Funfetti Donut Top, Tunic & Dress Pattern

There is a new pattern by  Candy Castle Patterns  and you are going to love this pattern! This is going to be your go to pattern, it includes soooo many options. I sewed three garments during testing, a t-shirt, a peplum top and a high low dress. Meet the  Funfetti Donut Top, Tunic & Dress Pattern from Candy Castle Patterns *. I let our eldest choose which options she wanted and she chose the high low dress and the flutter sleeves. She loves fluttery, flowy sleeves. I must admit these options give such a great result. It took some time to pick out the fabric because I didn't want to use directional fabric because of the skirt and I needed a little bit more than a meter and it turned out I didn't have that many pieces to pick from. So a good reason to buy new bigger pieces of fabric. Our girl is over the moon with her dress and so am I. The great part about the pattern is the neckline, it is the same for the front and back. I love the lower neckline on ...

Suspender Skirt from Candy Castle Patterns

Look at that those cute suspenders, it makes me long for spring and summer! The new Lunch Bag Suspender Skirt by  Candy Castle Patterns * is a skirt with two lengths. I made the skirt at the knee length, there is also a more vintage above the knee length. You can add the suspenders but you can also leave the suspenders off but I love the suspenders and feel that makes the skirt super cute. What I really like about a pattern is when you can use the pattern both for woven and knit fabrics. This skirt can! The bunny fabric is knit while I used woven for the suspenders. It really is a quick sew and it has two types of pockets, so lot of options to make different types of skirts. I used the basic waistband option, also the paperbag waist option is included. Our girl loves her bunny skirt!  Use code LUNCH for an introductory 20% off your Lunch Bag Suspender Skirt Pattern!  Valid through Feb 27, 11:59 PM MST. Fabric : bunny fabric from Textielstad Pat...

Re-releasing the Candy Wrapper Vest

You remember this peppermint swirl skirt , right?  Candy Castle Patterns  is re-releasing the  Candy Wrapper Vest * and it is a perfect match with the peppermint swirl skirt, or with any other skirt or dress. What I like about this vest is that it is a such a quick sew and perfect for over dresses and skirts. Since I mostly sew dresses, this is perfect to make those dresses with thinner fabrics still wearable during winter. Fabric for this vest needs only 15% stretch so it it perfect for fleece, velour, polar fleece or any other thicker fabrics. I used fleece for the vest so that it is nice and warm. It is a quick sew because it only has three pattern pieces. You don't need to put in the sleeves, they are part of the pattern pieces. With stripes you can see that the stripes continue from the back of the vest to the sleeves. The most time consuming element of the vest are these heart ties. You can also use ribbon to make it even a quicker sew. We love the...

Little Red Riding Hood Meets Peppermint Swirl

Several things came together that led to this skirt: the little red riding hood fabric that was part of a surprise fabric batch that I bought, our family going to Disneyland and our middle daughter not having a  Peppermint Swirl Skirt * . It was time for another peppermint swirl skirt by  Candy Castle Patterns ! Remember this amazing skirt that I sewed a couple of months ago? We all adore it! So me, who does not often sews patterns more than once, wanted to sew another one, this time for our middle daughter. During summer I bought a surprise batch of fabric at Stoffenfeest , which was quite a risk for me. What would I receive, and what types of fabric would I receive? This cotton with little red riding hood on it was not love at first sight. I was really in doubt, what was I going to sew with this? Then we decided to go to Disneyland Paris for a weekend and I knew our middle daughter was in need of a little red riding hood peppermint swirl dress. I mean every gir...

The most amazing peppermint swirl skirt

I have been drooling over the Peppermint Swirl Dress by Candy Castle Patterns * for quite some time. I mean have you seen that dress!! It it just the most amazing dress with an even better twirl. Then I saw a call for testers to update the free tutorial for the Peppermint Swirl Skirt . So I was hopping up and down and waving enthusiastically to be noticed! Then I got picked (YAY) and I was over the moon! On to the Peppermint Swirl Skirt. If you have never seen the Peppermint Swirl Dress or Skirt it is a dress/skirt made out of multiple flounces which makes it the twirliest skirt that is even bigger than a circle skirt. The sizing of the skirt starts at 6M and goes up adult sizing. What you need is different colours of woven fabric and bias band (I used almost 9 meters of bias band for this skirt, size 4Y). The great thing about this skirt is that the waistband is completely customised to fit the person who is wearing it....
