Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Re-releasing the Candy Wrapper Vest

You remember this peppermint swirl skirt, right? Candy Castle Patterns is re-releasing the Candy Wrapper Vest* and it is a perfect match with the peppermint swirl skirt, or with any other skirt or dress.
What I like about this vest is that it is a such a quick sew and perfect for over dresses and skirts. Since I mostly sew dresses, this is perfect to make those dresses with thinner fabrics still wearable during winter. Fabric for this vest needs only 15% stretch so it it perfect for fleece, velour, polar fleece or any other thicker fabrics. I used fleece for the vest so that it is nice and warm.
It is a quick sew because it only has three pattern pieces. You don't need to put in the sleeves, they are part of the pattern pieces. With stripes you can see that the stripes continue from the back of the vest to the sleeves. The most time consuming element of the vest are these heart ties. You can also use ribbon to make it even a quicker sew.
We love the vest, it is so cute with those heart ties. You can get the candy wrapper vest with a discount, use code CANDY to receive 20% off! Valid through Jan 3, 11:59 PM MST.
Fabric: I bought the thin fleece fabric at my store in Italy

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
