Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. A festive outfit for the doll

Besides all the awesome patterns for girls, boys, women and men Made by Runi also has patterns for dolls. Our girls love dolls, especially our second daughter and our youngest love to play with dolls. So sewing an outfit for our dolls was already on my list for a long time and now I finally sewed up an outfit for our doll.
The crown headband is the doll version of the Crown headband for adults and kids. I think it is great for birthdays but can also be used for keeping the head warm during winter. Of course our doll also needs to participate in the festivities. The crown can be worn on two sides so can match two different outfits.
The crown headband is part of the doll outdoor bundle, which include the crown headband, a cape and a beanie all for 43 cm dolls. To make a whole outfit I used the fairytale bundle to make a dress for our doll. The fairytale bundle includes dolls versions of the following three patterns: the fairytale hoodie, the fairy princess and the peplum with a twist. I used the fairytale hoodie but omitted the closing on the front. I put the top front pattern piece on the fold and created a dress.
Fabric: the black and gold fabric was part of my surprise package from Stoffenfeest, the green birthday fabric comes from Megastoffen.
Sizing: both bundles include patterns for dolls of 43 cm (Baby New Born)
Options: The doll outdoor bundle includes the doll version of the crown headband, the cape and beanie. The Doll fairytale bundle includes the doll versions of the Fairytale hoodie, Fairy Princess and the Peplum tunic with a twist.
Difficulty: 3 out of 7
Sewing time: 1 hour for the dress and 15 minutes for the crown

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
