My first pair of trousers: Gobi Culottes

I cannot believe it, but I sewed my first pair of trousers and I love them! I am so proud of myself! The Gobi Culottes by Itch to Stitch * are designed for twill, non stretch, woven fabrics. I used a twill fabric with a very soft inside that I bought at Textielstad. They are so comfortable! I have never sewed pants because they look complicated and they take a long time. I did underestimate the time it would take to sew these pants. Just tracing the pattern pieces already took me a couple of hours (there are many different pattern pieces). Then sewing the pants took me longer than expected, but the result is so satisfying. I might sew pants more often. It is great to have well fitting pants. Every time I sew an Itch to Stitch pattern I am always impressed with how easily the pattern is sewed up because the instruction breaks up the construction in many small steps. Orono Top by Itch to Stitch

Yay, a new Itch to Stitch pattern. I love patterns by Itch to Stitch *, I think they make up 75% of my wardrobe! Here is the Orono top ! What I like about the Itch to Stitch patterns is that I always learn a new technique. This time it is the pocket. You are being guided through the process and at the end you are amazed at how you created such a beautiful pocket. It is an inseam pocket that is attached to the front, although it looks like a welt pocket. The Orono top is designed for knit with little stretch, about 15-30%, so sweat knit and interlock work well with this pattern. It has raglan sleeves and shoulder darts, and as I said inseam pockets which are created in a great way. It also has a cowl that you can wear up or double folded as I did. Busan Top by Itch to Stitch

I am not a real fashionista like some seamstress are. I am more of a follower when it comes to fashion, or maybe a late follower. I usually don't really like all the new things that are 'hot' at the moment. Only after seeing things for a long time (a few years) I am like, 'that is actually quite nice'. However, now that I sew for myself and also test for myself these things sometimes change. I love to be challenged in life and that is what pattern testing does for me. Both in skills, but also sewing outside of my comfort zone when it comes to designs. When I first saw the Busan top * by Itch to Stitch I wasn't sure whether it was something for me. Aveiro Cardigan by Itch to Stitch

We are moving towards fall and every now and then we need some fall clothing. What I always wear during fall season are cardigans. It is great to put one over a t-shirt or take it with you when it will get colder at night. I have many different cardigans in different colours, because they need to match your clothing, right?! The Aveiro Cardigan * by Itch to Stitch is therefore a must have in your wardrobe! The Aveiro Cardigan has several options, a bolero, a short cardigan, a regular cardigan and a long cardigan and you can opt for short or long sleeves. So basically all types of cardigans are covered in this awesome pattern. And of course as I am used to with Itch to Stitch patterns, the fit is spot on! Bellavista Top - Itch to Stitch

A new pattern by Itch to Stitch , my absolute favourite so far! I have worn my sweater a lot since we tested it in December and I get a lot of compliments about it. So here is the Bellavista Top by Itch to Stitch ! The Bellavista top is a pattern for a sweater or a knit top. It flares out at the bottom that makes the sweater so flattering. You can make the top with a cowl, like I did, or without it with a simple neckband. Another great feature of this pattern is the option to color block. The top has a separate center panel, which you can see in my sweater, which gives you the possibility to color clock the top if you like. Another option is to color block the cowl like I did. I bought my fabric at Cares Stoffen. It looks like a knitted sweater, but it is fabric with two layers. A knitted layer and a regular layer of stretch fabric. Free Uvita Top by Itch to Stitch

Patterns by Itch to Stitch are always an addition to my closet. I have already sewn the Brasov top and Newport Top and both are on my list of favorite garments to wear. So I expect the new free Uvita Top * by Itch to Stitch to become a runner up on my list. The new Uvita Top by Itch to Stitch is a dropped shoulder top with a relaxed fit. You can make it with 3/4 sleeves or long sleeves and has a beautiful wide neckline. It is an easy sew which is always great. Sometimes difficult pattern are a nice challenge, but sometimes it is great to finish a pattern within the hour. I slightly hacked the Uvita Top as I did not have enough fabric, when do I have enough?! But the result is always the best when I am forced to be creative. I used the line for the 3/4 length sleeves for the main fabric and added the uni color fabric for the long sleeve length. I love it! Colour blocked garments always make my heart beat faster! Brasov Wrap Top by Itch to Stitch

I love the patterns by Itch to Stitch because the patterns are those staple patterns you just need in your wardrobe and because the fit of the patterns is spot on! I was very happy when I was selected to be a tester for the Brasov Wrap Top *. The Brasov wrap top is a really modest top, perfect for fall. Although already a couple of the other testers also made it with short sleeves. So you can use it for any type of weather. I would wear the top at home but I can also wear it to work, an added bonus. I like the cross over part at the bottom of the top. I again used my coverlock with two different colours to finish the hem. Sewing the top is a bit of a precise work with the pleats. The end result looks so professional. An important part for this top is the type of fabric. Depending of the drape of the fabric the look of the top changes. A Women's Sweater - Newport Top

Pattern testing is so much fun! I love the deadline that comes with a pattern test, because you actually have to finish the garment you are making within a week. This time I was selecte d for a women pattern, that was a first for me, how exciting! The pattern for which I was one of the lucky testers was the Newport Top * by Itch to Stitch . It is a top with a boat neckline. It is great for a a bit ticker type of fabric, such as french terry and sweat knit. It is a comfortable top that looks nice. It has a high/low hem and some decorative top stitching. Just as Jenya ( While she was sleeping ) said, I also don't sew as much for myself because of the alterations that I need to do before I am totally happy with my garment and I will actually wear it. With this top, because it has a loose fit you don't need to worry about that too much. The size of the bust is all you need (and maybe the length that you want your top to be).
