Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Funfetti Donut Top, Tunic & Dress Pattern

There is a new pattern by  Candy Castle Patterns  and you are going to love this pattern! This is going to be your go to pattern, it includes soooo many options. I sewed three garments during testing, a t-shirt, a peplum top and a high low dress. Meet the  Funfetti Donut Top, Tunic & Dress Pattern from Candy Castle Patterns *. I let our eldest choose which options she wanted and she chose the high low dress and the flutter sleeves. She loves fluttery, flowy sleeves. I must admit these options give such a great result. It took some time to pick out the fabric because I didn't want to use directional fabric because of the skirt and I needed a little bit more than a meter and it turned out I didn't have that many pieces to pick from. So a good reason to buy new bigger pieces of fabric. Our girl is over the moon with her dress and so am I. The great part about the pattern is the neckline, it is the same for the front and back. I love the lower neckline on ...

Twinning in dandelion tops

We feel summer is around the corner with all that sunshine. So I thought let's start with summer clothing. Actually, I sewed these wonderful Dandelion Tank Peplum by Sofiona Designs already last summer but I didn't get around to post them on my blog (and showing them during winter seemed a bit odd, so here they are). The best part about these tops is the back and the binding that you can choose to sew to the inside or to the outside. I opted for both tops to flip them to the outside so you can see the pop of colour. For the top for our eldest I used a panel and for the peplum part I only wanted the triangular pieces so I had to adapt the 3/4 circle skirt. So the skirt is not that twirly. The pattern also includes a regular tank without the peplum skirt. Also two different lengths of the peplum skirt are included. Aren't they cute toghether and small in comparison to now?! Fabric : the top of our eldest is a panel piece of fabric which I can't remem...

Flurry Sweater

I love special details on patterns. These cute details make me learn new skills and I love interesting details on clothing. I fell for the drawstring sleeves in the new Girl's Flurry Sweater by Petite Stitchery *. You can go all the way with the pattern. In addition to the drawstring sleeve, it also has the option of a sleeve with a gathered shoulder or just a plain sleeve and bodice. I did a circle peplum, but also a gathered peplum and a split hem at the back with optional bows are included in the pattern. Of course the sleeves take some extra time during sewing, but it is so worth it! I love the effect. For the first sweater that I sewed I used stretch velvet and that gives the sleeves even more drama. The final pattern is made with the striped fabric (a bit more width to the sleeves was added in comparison to the stretch velvet peplum). The patterns, both the girl's and women's flurry are on sale through Monday January 13th at midnight. Ea...

Cute as a cupcake

I love those high-low tunics, peplum tops and dresses. Made by Runi has quite a few of those garments, which I made already. Have a look at the cozy dress , the fairytale hoodie  and the fairy princess dress that I made. Also the Cute as a Cupcake  peplum has a high-low skirt. The Cute as a cupcake has three length options, a t-shirt, a peplum (which I made) and a dress length. I lengthened the peplum with 1,5 cm so our girl can wear it as a short dress with leggings underneath. Our girl especially loves the flutter sleeves. The flutter sleeves with long sleeves are perfect for fall and winter, you get the fun part of the flutter sleeves, but warm enough during colder weather. Today only there is a 25% discount on all children's patterns at Made by Runi with the code CHRISTMAS19. Tide and Tundra

The patterns by Sofiona Designs are always something special. Also this time, the Tide and the Tundra  will win over your heart.  Let's start with the Tide , a halter top/dress, with a lovely back and cute straps in the neck. I of course love the colour block detail on the back sides, great for using those beautiful scraps. I love that you can still see some nice details with the Tundra sweater on top of the Tide top. Since fall in setting in here, the Tide will not see much sun without the Tundra, it will be too cold, but in combination it is perfect for fall weather. I sewed the full circle peplum top. The pattern also includes a dress length and a half circle skirt for both the peplum and dress length. So depending on the amount of fabric you can choose your options. I would recommend a strap turning tool for turning the straps to the right side. For this test I sewed two Tundra's. The Tundra crop sweater is just perfect for fall or winter...

A horse... uh unicorn peplum top!

I was sure when I showed this relaxed peplum top * to our daughter, she would call it her horse top. But I was wrong, these are obviously unicorns! Well great, if that makes that she will wear the top I am all for it! The relaxed peplum top, tunic and dress by Mamma Can Do It is a great peplum top which has lots of options. It comes in sizes 2Y-16 and there is also a  women's relaxed peplum top . You can make it in three different lengths, top, tunic or dress length. Additionally, you can make it with a circle peplum or a gathered peplum. Also the gathered peplum can be made with a regular hem or with a High/Low Hem. I made the top length with off course the circle peplum. Our girl loves the twirl factor of the circle hem, which girl wouldn't?! Next week (September 17-22) there will be a sew-a-long for the relaxed peplum top, tunic and dress for both girls and women. If you haven't sewed (or bought) it yet, now is your chance. There will be a 25% discount and ...
