Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

LOL Swing Expansion

When I saw the testing call for the LOL Swing Top Expansion * by Jennuine Design I just had to apply (even though I was already involved in two other tests at that moment). I love the design of the LOL Swing Top and even more options were added! I already made a  LOL Swing Top  but hacked it slightly to make it into a dress for our youngest girl. I had some issues with my dress version, so it looks quite different from this dress.  Also this time I made the LOL Swing Expansion for our youngest girl. The LOL Swing expansion is an add-on to the original LOL Swing Top pattern. So you need the original pattern in order to be able to make the LOL Swing dress. There are several options that are included in the add-on: a pinafore top and a dress option and pockets are included! I made the dress option with pockets. It comes in sizes NB to 12Y. The top and the expansion are on sale for just $5 and $2 respectively, so go get it or both now! The LOL Swing top and dress c...

LOL Swing Top in Indonesia

This new LOL Swing Top * by  Jennuine Design  has already seen many different places. I sewed the Swing Top during our holiday in Italy in the summer. And I made the pictures during our holiday in Indonesia. We love this top for summer weather! I like the look of the wide bottom of the Swing Top, it is so nice and flowy. Officially, it is a top and not a dress.  The length of the top is supposed to be at her hip. When I finished sewing the top I did not like the length of the top on our girl. I think I should have chosen a longer length. I found it too short to be a top. So I decided to add a rectangular piece of fabric to the bottom. The bottom of the top is already quite wide and I did not want to add more width to the bottom so I just added a piece of fabric with the same width of the bottom of the top. I played a little bit with the stripes and put the stripes in a different direction, I really love the result. The piece of fabric that I added turned out a bit shor...

Divided Dress Test

Let's start this blog with a test that I did recently for  Jennuine Design . I was lucky to get chosen to test the  Divided Dress . It is a great dress to use all your small scraps as well for colour blocking. I just love colour blocking in clothing, that is why it is so great to sew for your kids or for yourself. I sewed the 6-9 M, our little one year old is quite small for her age. She perfectly fits the dress, I did not need to change anything! I made the colour blocked front with long sleeves. There is also a shawl option and you can also make it with short or without sleeves.  Pattern :  Divided Dress  by  Jennuine Design Fabric :  * sweat fabric: blue fabric and the flower fabric both come from  Michas Stoffecke * the pink fabric comes from an outlet fabric store in Marsciano in Italy
