One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans.This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. Misusu FREEkin' Sewing Challenge: Max meets Lotte

I love patterns by Misusu, so when I saw the call for a blog tour by Misusu I jumped on the occasion and I was selected! Woohoo! Today is my day to inspire you for the Misusu FREEkin' Sewing Challenge. You only have a couple of days left to participate in the challenge (until Saturday August 18th). I love to see your creations! More on the challenge and the giveaway below. For my creation I used the free pattern the Max Tee and mashed it with the Lotte Dress (a paid pattern by Misusu). The Max Tee has a bib closure, which makes it easy to put over the head. What is unique about this Tee is that you can combine knit and woven in this pattern. You can make the bib part out of knit or woven. I really love patterns that match knit with woven. I have sewed two Louise sweaters by Misusu in which you can also combine knit and woven (I combined two stretch fabrics). Bella Sunshine: Back to School Blog Tour

Blog tours are a great way to push me to start sewing. For the back to school blog tour by Bella Sunshine Designs * I used three different patterns to start my fall sewing. Although it is still searing hot here I sewed an outfit that she can wear once she goes back to school and most likely the weather will be back to its usual self (which means rain). I used two free patterns, the Eden Leggings and the Reagan Raglan t-shirt (free with the code in the BSD Facebook group ), and combined these with the Apple Cardigan by Bella Sunshine Designs . This is a first time for me to create one whole outfit that fits together and it took me a while to find the right combination of fabrics that fit together. I am really happy with the result, but I can imagine that some might find it quite bold (I guess most of my outfits are quite bold to others). I have a soft spot for asymmetrical patterns. So when I saw the Brianna Dress by DG Patterns * I instantly loved it. Today I am part of the DG patterns blog tour. Enjoy! The Brianna Dress has two asymmetrical features, the dress itself has a asymmetrical shape and there is an asymmetrical neckline option. It also has a round and a V-shape neckline option, so there are three different necklines from which you can choose. I of course chose the asymmetrical neckline. Usually when I start with a pattern I cut my pattern pieces before I start reading the instructions, I know, not always the best approach.
