Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Linen Breeze shirt

When I saw this breeze shirt from plus2is5 I knew I had to make it for my husband. During our holiday in Hawaii two years ago we bought a shirt like the breeze shirt and he loves it. So after a year he requested another one. I started looking for a pattern but found it difficult to search. So when I saw the breeze shirt pop up in my instagram I bought the Breeze shirt from Twig + Tale right away and sewed it up for Fathersday. My husband loves it, it is nice and breezy. I made it in linen fabric that I bought at Textielstad. What makes the pattern to great is the attention to detail. There is contrasting fabric in the hem and the back of the top of the bodice. Also the difference in length of the front and back bodice gives it such a professional look. The pattern also uses french seams, which was a first for me. So also the inside looks perfect. My husband at first thought it was a big big on him, as he had to get used to the dropped shoulders. Let's see how he feels a...

Basic raglan for my man

Last weekend I went on a sewing weekend and I try to make something for everybody during such a weekend. For my husband I made another t-shirt. This time I used the Basic Raglan by Made by Runi . It is a great basic pattern that works well and is sewed together very quickly.   I let my husband pick out the fabric and I must say I like the combination that he picked out! There is not much else to say about this project other than it was finished within an hour and it makes a happy man. He feels a bit neglected when it comes to sewing. I sewed 11 items during the sewing weekend, 5 for our eldest, 3 for our middle one, 2 for our youngest and just 1 for him. He is right, I should sew more for him and with these quick projects why not? The Basic Raglan is pattern of the week, which means you can get it this week with a discount. Also a basic raglan pattern for  kids  (with a twist) and  women  is available. These are also discounted this week. Fabric :...

Billies for the husband

It was already a long time ago that I made something for my husband so he felt a bit neglected. Therefore I decided to sew a couple of items for him during our sewing weekend . I sewed three items for him during that weekend. I started with pyjama pants (which did not make it to the blog). The second day I sewed two Billies with fabric that I bought during the sewing weekend. Today I am showing you two different Billies . The first t-shirt is version A with a v-neck. I used the lower v-neck that is included in the pattern. I wanted to use the coverlock to topstitch the neckline and tried something new. I sewed on the inside of the t-shirt so that the decorative stitch was showing on the outside. With a v-neck the point is always difficult to get topstitched nicely, so I stopped before I reached the lowest point of the v-neck and just left it like that, I like the result. Changes I made to the pattern : I lengthened the t-shirt with 2 cm and I lengthened the sleeves with...

A v-neck t-shirt for the husband (SVDHZ 3)

The husband is always the one who gets the fewest home sewn garments. Although I always have plans for projects for him, and they are done very quickly, he is always the last one in line. With the kids I always feel they need certain garments because they have outgrown their dresses, t-shirts or tops. With the husband I never feel he really needs any new clothing, and therefore he has to wait until other projects are finished. When I bought the book Stof voor durf-het-zelvers 3 , I immediately liked the men's sweater in the book and thought it would be perfect for him. It is actually a very quick project, well the sewing is very quick. I was really struggling with tracing the pattern. I traced the pattern pieces, or so I thought, but they looked rather strange and short. It turned out that I traced the sleeves of a different pattern.  I am so happy with PDF pattern where you can just print the sizes you need of just one pattern. Adaptations I made : I made a t-shirt with sho...

Men's Roller Coaster Tee

My first post about a men's pattern. Although I have sewed some men's patterns before, I have not blogged about any of them. It was my husband's birthday in May and he feels a bit left behind when it comes to sewing for him. So the perfect gift is a handmade item! I sewed the Men's Roller Coaster Tee  (MRCT) from Duck Butt Designs . I love the patterns by Duck Butt Designs because of their colour blocking. Anything with colour blocking is great isn't it?  I wanted to sew something special, a plain t-shirt can also be easily bought at a store don't you think? Therefore the Roller Coaster Tee is perfect! And since I do not own too many large pieces of fabric the Roller Coaster Tee is also perfect. I sometimes forget how much fabric I need when I sew for my husband. The two types of fabric with stripes is actually the same fabric. For the lower piece I used the right side of the fabric and for the other piece I used the wrong side of the fabric. I adapte...
