Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Women's Stonecrop Tank Top

The weather is great so time for tank tops. Tank tops are my favourite type of top to wear during summer. Two weeks ago I showed you the stonecrop tank top kids for our girls . Now also the  stonecrop tank top Adult by MW Patterns * is available. Once I sewed up the stonecrop tank top for our girls I knew I wanted one with those flattering side panels as well. Of course I love the pattern because of the colour blocking but also because of the side panels which are great for your figure. There is also a plain version of the tank top available and another colour blocking option, which I made for our middle daughter (you can see it here ). I really like the curved hem on the front. I am less a fan of the binding on the top. I have been sewing binding almost non stop the last weeks. So my binding skills have improved, still it is not my favourite sewing activity. Patterns by MW Patterns are not very cheap, so if you are interested in the Stonecrop Tank Top for Adults you shou...

Colour blocked Juliet dress

I love to sew dresses for our girls. When the Juliet dress from Peek-a-Boo Patterns * was released I bought it right away... that was more than a year ago. It was on my sewing list for a long time. Sewing weekends are perfect to sew those patterns that I have been wanting to sew for a long time. During our last sewing weekend I sewed a couple of patterns that were already on my sewing list for a while. The Juliet dress is a dress with a feature on the back. I chose the heart cut out. There are also a star and bunny cut out and there is also the option of a bow in the back. I chose to put the fabric behind the cutout as it is too cold (well not anymore I guess), to wear it with an open back. This option is included in the pattern, just as leaving the cut out open. With these circle skirts you need a lot of fabric and I always underestimate how much fabric you need. That in combination with me buying fabric without any specific pattern in mind I usually just buy ...

It's a wrap dress

A couple of weeks ago our eldest was wearing this dress from her (when her girls outgrow her handmade clothing we receive it 😊). And our eldest loves that dress, especially because of the wrap element (I also think she loves the retro element of the fabric although she doesn't realise that yet). So I thought the It's a wrap dress from Made by Runi would be a perfect match. Our eldest even picked out the fabric for the dress, so there is nothing in the way of this dress becoming a favourite. The dress has the option of adding the ruffle or leaving the ruffle off (there are two length for with or without the ruffle). I opted for adding a ruffle to the skirt only. There is also the possibility of adding a ruffle to the top bodice.  The bodice is staying put with a snap in the inside of the dress, which is great, because I have the experience that wrap dresses often tend to shift. The It's a wrap is pattern of the week at Made by Runi, which means you can get it w...

Another wendybird dress

The third wendybird dress * on this blog, that means I love that dress! I already sewed two dresses for the eldest two (although the eldest has outgrown hers and our middle one is now wearing the one of the eldest). Now it was time for a dress for our youngest. Meet my newest wendybird dress from  Stitch upon a time .  The pattern has many different options, you can either pleat or gather the panel skirt part (or leave out the extra skirt panel, although I love that element of the dress). Two years ago I used both the pleats and gathering for the dresses. The last time I also made the regular sleeves. This time I used the bubble sleeves and I love the construction, it is so nicely finished. In addition to the regular neckband I used there is also the option of a boatneck.  Additionally, there are several hacks for the wendybird dress: How to use a woven fabric for the skirt How to add a hood How to make the skirt panel super full For this wendybird dress I ...

A Clover hoodless hoodie with arm pocket

Well get your zippers ready because everybody will want arm pockets after seeing this amazing hoodie. It is the Clover hoodie from Sofiona Designs . It is an amazing sweater with lots of colour block options and that pocket... The Clover hoodie has many different options. It has three different styles for the front and back of the bodice. I made view A (see the pictures af the bottom of this blog post with the cactus fabric) and view B (with the unicorns). There is also a view C with no style lines in the bodice. View A is great for combing different fabrics and if you like colour blocking like I do. View B has fewer sewing lines and after seeing people in our tester group using piping I wanted to try that. Me not using the opportunity to combine different fabrics is something. I used flat piping to accentuate the different style lines in View B. The unicorn fabric comes form my  #lockdownbox from About Blue Fabrics. I though it would be fun to be surprised by some fabr...

Advena bodysuit by Sofilantjes

I love sewing for babies, even though our baby is not that small anymore. Those small pieces of clothing and bodysuits or onesies are always so cute when you are done. And bodysuits are always useful and  Sofilantjes * just released a new one, the Advena bodysuit  (ook in het Nederlands ).  Bodysuits and onesies are very grateful projects because they are worn every single day. The Advena bodysuit is a great basic for your collection. It has the regular neckline that I sewed but there is also an asymmetrical neckline option with just one shoulder having a fold over binding. I think that is also a cute detail and definitely an unique detail. Our girl wears cloth diapers and this bodysuit fits very well over cloth diapers as well as regular diapers. Also the length of the bodysuit works well with cloth diapers. You use the trunk length to decide on the length of the bodysuit you sew. It covers the diaper nicely and you don't need to stretch the bodysu...

Kid's Stonecrop Tank top

I love colour blocking and the  Stonecrop tank top kids  by MW Patterns * is just perfect for that. The tank top has three different options. I sewed the two options with colour blocking, there is also the option of a plain tank top in just one fabric. Now that summer is almost here it is a great time to sew tank tops. I love patterns that include colour block options because your can use smaller scraps for those and you can combine different fabrics. I sewed this skirt for our eldest a couple of weeks ago. It is blue with silver (glitter) lines on it and I had some fabric left. Perfect to match the tank top with the skirt.  For our middle daughter I chose some leftover fabric from this peplum top . I find this fabric difficult to combine with other fabric because it is already a busy print. I do love the match with a leftover from this dress .  The neck and arms are done with binding. Usually I prefer to sew the bands with my serger, which is...
