There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley. Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. The third wendybird dress* on this blog, that means I love that dress! I already sewed two dresses for the eldest two (although the eldest has outgrown hers and our middle one is now wearing the one of the eldest). Now it was time for a dress for our youngest. Meet my newest wendybird dress from Stitch upon a time.
The pattern has many different options, you can either pleat or gather the panel skirt part (or leave out the extra skirt panel, although I love that element of the dress). Two years ago I used both the pleats and gathering for the dresses. The last time I also made the regular sleeves. This time I used the bubble sleeves and I love the construction, it is so nicely finished. In addition to the regular neckband I used there is also the option of a boatneck.
Additionally, there are several hacks for the wendybird dress:
For this wendybird dress I used the last hack and added a super full panel. The construction is even easier with this hack, you use the back skirt piece three times. And our girls love full skirts, although our youngest cannot twirl yet, let's see how quickly she will learn.
The wendybird dress is now discounted with 40% (until April 21), thus the perfect moment to buy the wendybird dress if you don't already own it. I love the dress and will definitely make another one, probably for our eldest again. She already requested one with bubble sleeves as well and with that rainbow stripes fabric.
