Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Infinity swimsuit

I immediately fell in love with the infinity leotard from BOO! Designs . It would be great for a swimsuit or a leotard for dance classes. I decided to first make a swimsuit for our eldest and I wanted to finish it before we went on our holiday to Italy. Now that the eldest is done with swimming lessons she will not use a swimsuit as often anymore. But of course during our holiday she would use it a lot. So I finished it the day before we went on holiday. Since her last bikini had a skirted bottom, I asked whether she wanted a skirt again or not. And of course she still wanted a skirt on her bikini. The pattern didn't include a skirt so I just added a rectangular piece of lycra, twice the width of the waist and gathered this. Then I attached the skirt to the bottom before attaching the waist band. The skirt ends halfway the bottom of the bikini. Swimsuits for the girls

I found a new joy, sewing swimsuits (see  this swimsuit  and  this swimsuit  which I sewed before). Our eldest swims every week so sewing a swimsuit will be used every week, not only during summer. But it all started when I wanted to sew a bikini bottom for our middle daughter. During summer our girls mostly wear UV shirts when they swim outside so they mostly need bikini bottoms. So I started looking for swim bottoms with a skirt attached, because of course our girls wanted skirts on their bikini bottoms. Our middle daughter is very small in her hips so I had to find a bikini bottom that had a size 6M-9M hips size (without a diaper) and needed to have the option of a skirt. It took me quite some time. Either I did find a great looking bikini pattern but it started at 2Y or 12M and was still not the right size for our girl, or I did find a pattern with the right size but without the right options. Jalie's Tessa (ballet dress)

Our eldest girl loves to dance and sing all day long. So a couple of years ago we started with dance lessons. I couldn't find a ballet suit with a short skirt (I am not in any way specific), so I decided to make one myself. Since that was already more than 1,5 years ago it was time to make a new one. I have always been intrigued by the patterns by Jalie . If you are like me, who loves sports clothing, patterns by Jalie look awesome. However, how many ballet suits, skating dresses and other sports clothing do you need? Well, not so many that you can regularly buy patterns from Jalie. The best part about Jalie patterns is that once you buy a pattern the size ranges from children to adult sizes, all in one pattern. So either you can sew a pattern throughout the whole life of your children, or you can create a mommy and me outfit with the same pattern!
