Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Advena bodysuit by Sofilantjes

I love sewing for babies, even though our baby is not that small anymore. Those small pieces of clothing and bodysuits or onesies are always so cute when you are done. And bodysuits are always useful and  Sofilantjes * just released a new one, the Advena bodysuit  (ook in het Nederlands ).  Bodysuits and onesies are very grateful projects because they are worn every single day. The Advena bodysuit is a great basic for your collection. It has the regular neckline that I sewed but there is also an asymmetrical neckline option with just one shoulder having a fold over binding. I think that is also a cute detail and definitely an unique detail. Our girl wears cloth diapers and this bodysuit fits very well over cloth diapers as well as regular diapers. Also the length of the bodysuit works well with cloth diapers. You use the trunk length to decide on the length of the bodysuit you sew. It covers the diaper nicely and you don't need to stretch the bodysu...

Sylva onesie by Sofilantjes

Aren't onesies just the cutest piece of clothing? And they wear them constantly! I love to put our youngest in new, soft, original onesies. Do you remember the  Sylva t-shirt  by Sofilantjes *? I sewed one  more than a year ago. Now there is a Sylva Onesie  ( Nederlands patroon ), with the same neckline! The Sylva is characterised by the v-neck line on the front and the back of the onesie. The onesie comes in sizes NB to 86 and fits perfectly over cloth diapers as you can see in the photos. The onesie fits nicely around the legs and does not show the diaper (even though you might want to show the cute designs of the cloth diapers 😉). I sewed the short sleeves, but the pattern also comes with long sleeves, which is next on my sewing list. Onesies are usually pretty quick sews and great baby gifts. The same goes for this onesie, you just need to pay attention when sewing the binding for the neck, and the result is so cute! And perfect for colour blocking. O...

Tea Party Dress & Chloe Cardigan- wedding outfit II

As some of you know, and most of you probably do not, we got married about a month ago. A lot of people asked me if I was going to sew my own wedding dress. Although I like a challenge, I found that challenge a bridge too far. Nevertheless, I did sew the dresses for our girls. It was a first for me to really go all the way by first sewing trial dresses and then sewing the final dresses. During our sewing weekend I sewed the test version of the azure party dress  (2Y-12) by Ainslee Fox and I was really happy with the result (as was our daughter). You can see the result in the post about our sewing weekend . For the final version I used the same pattern pieces. I went shopping at Cares Stoffen for fabric that matched my dress. The blush fabric that you see in the middle of the dress is a part of my wedding dress. My dress had to be shortened so some fabric was left over and I could take it with me. Cares Stoffen had all the fabric that I wanted, cotton for the top and bot...
