Stitch upon a time * is introducing the SUAT Spotlight. Each month there will two patterns that are in the spotlight and will be on sale. This month the boxerwear patterns ( Men's , Women's and kids ) and the Shirtzie patterns ( Women's and girl's ) are on sale. So I sewed up a shirtzie dress for our youngest.  The shirtzie has 3 sleeve lengths and 3 length options, a crop top, tunic or dress length (with a dress and maxi length). I sewed the 3/4 sleeves, which will be perfect for summer and fall. The shirtzie is available for both girls (NB - 12Y) and women (XXS - 3X). I slightly hacked the pattern by adding a neckband. The top of the dress is fully lined and I decided to leave out the lining and just add a neckband. I did not change anything to the bodice so the neckline with the neckband is a bit higher than if you line the bodice. I love dresses with a stunning back. Also with the knit breeze dress from Tadah Patterns , I immediately fell in love with the back. After buying the pattern I immediately ordered the bra closure for the back and after almost a year I sewed up the pattern. Our girl is over the moon with it! This dress has not seen the inside of her closet yet. I love patterns with lots and lots of options. The Knit breeze dress has lots of options. I used the sliced front with the panelled skirt so that the front colour block in the bodice continues in the skirt. A half circle skirt and a full circle skirt are also included. I like patterns that include half cirlce skirts because they need less fabric and our girls find half circle skirts twirly enough. In total 6 different sleeve options are included in the pattern, so even for colder weather you can use this pattern, although you might need something to cover the bare back. When looking at the title you might think, ehh what? Right, apparently Singoalla refers to the elastic in this dress/top/jumpsuit. It makes sizing of this garment easy and sewing quick! So have a look at the new released Every day Singoalla from Made by Runi . It is discounted until 9.00 UTC +2. The everyday singoalla includes a top, a dress and a jumpsuit (short or long legs) with raglan sleeves. The sew is so quick, within an hour I finished my dress. The most important element is the elastic. I used the length of our girl as the size and that works perfectly, it is a great summer dress (or top or jumpsuit) and starts at size 50. Great for small babies as well during warm weather.  The pattern is designed for knit, although I can image it would work just as well for woven fabrics. I might give that a try next, again to use all those beautiful woven fabrics I have and these would be perfect for a light summer dress/top/jumpsuit. Important with this new add on is the length of the bodice of the dress. The bodice needs to end in the waist, measure from shoulder to waist before you start cutting. If the bodice is longer than the waist the back might start gaping and that is not what you want right? So adjust...

I love my Vallis , it is the perfect summer dress. So I decided to also sew one for our eldest. Last summer it was already on my list to sew one for our eldest. But again, it didn't happen until I went on our sewing weekend . Here is the girl's Vallis from Sofilantjes * for our eldest. I love the asymmetrical skirt of the dress. I used the same option for my own dress. Just like with this dress I added some colour blocking because I didn't have enough fabric. There are three hemming options for this dress. A 3/4 circle skirt with a round hem, a 3/4 circle skirt with a handkerchief hem (so four square corners) or a 3/4 circle skirt with an asymmetrical hem (round on one side and with a square corner on the other side). I love to sew dresses for our girls. When the Juliet dress from Peek-a-Boo Patterns * was released I bought it right away... that was more than a year ago. It was on my sewing list for a long time. Sewing weekends are perfect to sew those patterns that I have been wanting to sew for a long time. During our last sewing weekend I sewed a couple of patterns that were already on my sewing list for a while. The Juliet dress is a dress with a feature on the back. I chose the heart cut out. There are also a star and bunny cut out and there is also the option of a bow in the back. I chose to put the fabric behind the cutout as it is too cold (well not anymore I guess), to wear it with an open back. This option is included in the pattern, just as leaving the cut out open. With these circle skirts you need a lot of fabric and I always underestimate how much fabric you need. That in combination with me buying fabric without any specific pattern in mind I usually just buy ...

A couple of weeks ago our eldest was wearing this dress from her (when her girls outgrow her handmade clothing we receive it 😊). And our eldest loves that dress, especially because of the wrap element (I also think she loves the retro element of the fabric although she doesn't realise that yet). So I thought the It's a wrap dress from Made by Runi would be a perfect match. Our eldest even picked out the fabric for the dress, so there is nothing in the way of this dress becoming a favourite. The dress has the option of adding the ruffle or leaving the ruffle off (there are two length for with or without the ruffle). I opted for adding a ruffle to the skirt only. There is also the possibility of adding a ruffle to the top bodice.  The bodice is staying put with a snap in the inside of the dress, which is great, because I have the experience that wrap dresses often tend to shift. The third wendybird dress * on this blog, that means I love that dress! I already sewed two dresses for the eldest two (although the eldest has outgrown hers and our middle one is now wearing the one of the eldest). Now it was time for a dress for our youngest. Meet my newest wendybird dress from  Stitch upon a time .  The pattern has many different options, you can either pleat or gather the panel skirt part (or leave out the extra skirt panel, although I love that element of the dress). Two years ago I used both the pleats and gathering for the dresses. The last time I also made the regular sleeves. This time I used the bubble sleeves and I love the construction, it is so nicely finished. Our favourite dress from Made by Runi for our girls, me and my husband is the Fairy princess dress. Here  you can find the previous one that I sewed. I just love that double skirt with the high-low of the top skirt. So during my last sewing weekend I sewed two for our two eldest girls. I could not really decide on whether long or short sleeves would be the best thing, I made one with long sleeves for our eldest and one with short sleeves for our middle one. I never buy fabric for a certain project, which sometimes makes it a challenge to get the pattern pieces out of the fabric. The dresses have full circle skirts and I wanted to make the skirt for the middle one not as big. With the help of  her  I made a 3/4 circle skirt. A couple of weeks ago I went fabric shopping with  her  at the Nooteboom Textiles store, wow, what a dream place is that.
