Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Breeze dress in knit

I love dresses with a stunning back. Also with the knit breeze dress from Tadah Patterns, I immediately fell in love with the back. After buying the pattern I immediately ordered the bra closure for the back and after almost a year I sewed up the pattern. Our girl is over the moon with it! This dress has not seen the inside of her closet yet.
I love patterns with lots and lots of options. The Knit breeze dress has lots of options. I used the sliced front with the panelled skirt so that the front colour block in the bodice continues in the skirt. A half circle skirt and a full circle skirt are also included. I like patterns that include half cirlce skirts because they need less fabric and our girls find half circle skirts twirly enough.
In total 6 different sleeve options are included in the pattern, so even for colder weather you can use this pattern, although you might need something to cover the bare back. I anticipated on the Dutch weather and therefore made a top that matches this dress (same fabric). She already wore them together and the high neck of the top on the back works great with the neckline on the back of this dress. I used short sleeves, but also flounce, cap, long, mid and sleeveless is an option. There are two different necklines, a high neckline and a low neckline. I used the low neckline for the dress. If you prefer to sew with woven fabrics, there is also a woven breeze dress.
Fabric: Tricot 11593 from By Lison bought at Driessen stoffen
Sizing: 1-14
Options: high or low neckline, 6 sleeve options (cap, short, mid, long, flounce or sleeveless), 3 skirt options (half circle, full circle or panelled skirt, peplum or dress length, plain front or sliced front (with optional ruffles)
Difficulty: Adventurous beginner
Sewing time: 2 hours

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
