Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. A twisted outfit: Romy twist tee and skirt

Twisted and asymmetrical clothing are my weak spot, so I fell in love the moment I saw this outfit, the Adult Romy Twist Tee and Skirt from Petite Stitchery*. They look complicated and sophisticated, but they are actually very quick sews.

The twist top has three different lengths, I made the regular top length, also the modest top length and mini top length are included in the pattern. I don't really see myself wearing anything shorter than the regular top length, but I must admit, everybody in the tester group looked great in the shorter top lengths. Besides the crew neck option, also a v-neck option is included and 4 different sleeve length. So you can make many different options with the twist tee.
That skirt! Wow, it is just two pattern pieces, one for the skirt and one for the waistband, you need to fold and flip and there you are, you have your new twist skirt. Well not exactly, that is in theory how it works but it was a bit puzzling at first what should go where. I lengthened my skirt with a bit more than 10 cm because I prefer skirts on my knees (and I am only 162). The original skirt ends above the knee.
The skirt is really comfortable and can be dressed up or down. I used a french terry for the skirt, so the inside is very soft. I was doubting whether I would use a double sided fabric, which would accentuate the inside of the fabric in the skirt, but I could not find a fabric in my stash that I liked. Just remember to use a fabric that has a coloured wrong side of the fabric otherwise you will see the white inside of the fabric.

Pattern: Adult Romy Twist Tee and Skirt from Petite Stitchery
Sizing: XS - 4X
Options: Three lengths (mini crop, modest crop and top length), two necklines (crew and v-neck), four sleeve options
Difficulty: Beginner
Sewing time: actual sewing time, 1 hour each (puzzling time a bit more)

One Thimble 17: Big Day Out Jacket

I just love blog tours! It is so nice to see the different perspective of different sewers on the same projects. The One Thimble Magazine* is a great way to bet to know different designers in one magazine. For me this was my first time sewing something from One Thimble. Although I have sewed a pattern that was part of a previous version from One Thimble ( Orbis Sinny Harem Pants  by Sofilantjes in One Thimble 13 ).  In the newest One Thimble, issue 17 I sewed the Big Day Out Jacket by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns .  The Big Day Out Jacket is a denim jacket. My version looks like a denim jacket but actually I sewed the jacket from french terry and sweat fabrics with a denim look. With this jacket you can go all out!
