Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Tide and Tundra

The patterns by Sofiona Designs are always something special. Also this time, the Tide and the Tundra  will win over your heart.  Let's start with the Tide , a halter top/dress, with a lovely back and cute straps in the neck. I of course love the colour block detail on the back sides, great for using those beautiful scraps. I love that you can still see some nice details with the Tundra sweater on top of the Tide top. Since fall in setting in here, the Tide will not see much sun without the Tundra, it will be too cold, but in combination it is perfect for fall weather. I sewed the full circle peplum top. The pattern also includes a dress length and a half circle skirt for both the peplum and dress length. So depending on the amount of fabric you can choose your options. I would recommend a strap turning tool for turning the straps to the right side. For this test I sewed two Tundra's. The Tundra crop sweater is just perfect for fall or winter...

Little Red Riding Hood Meets Peppermint Swirl

Several things came together that led to this skirt: the little red riding hood fabric that was part of a surprise fabric batch that I bought, our family going to Disneyland and our middle daughter not having a  Peppermint Swirl Skirt * . It was time for another peppermint swirl skirt by  Candy Castle Patterns ! Remember this amazing skirt that I sewed a couple of months ago? We all adore it! So me, who does not often sews patterns more than once, wanted to sew another one, this time for our middle daughter. During summer I bought a surprise batch of fabric at Stoffenfeest , which was quite a risk for me. What would I receive, and what types of fabric would I receive? This cotton with little red riding hood on it was not love at first sight. I was really in doubt, what was I going to sew with this? Then we decided to go to Disneyland Paris for a weekend and I knew our middle daughter was in need of a little red riding hood peppermint swirl dress. I mean every gir...

Chameleon dress: dress of possibilities

Imagine a dress, which you can wear as a dress with long sleeves, or with one sleeve, or strapless, or as a top! Meet the Chameleon dress by LittleKiwisCloset , the dress of endless possibilities! When I saw a video with the first prototype of this dress, I was amazed by all the possibilities. I even had the chance to test the dress/top. I think this is just the perfect piece of clothing for holidays. With this one piece you can create multiple different looks and outfits, isn't that just amazing?! This dress is definitely coming along in my suit case, perfect as a comfortable top during the day and a dress during dinner in the evening. It is a dress that you sew up in an hour and gives you endless opportunities. You need a fabric with at least 50% horizontal and 50% vertical stretch. You can even create different versions. There are three width options: slim, mid or wide. I sewed the mid version with a binding neckline (there is also a cowl option). ...
