Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Lucky Clover high low top

I love high low dresses and tops on our daughter and so does she. This skirt and this dress are her favourites. When I saw the Lucky Clover I knew our daughter would love it. The longer the top/dress the better and the twirl of the Lucky Clover top and skirt pattern from Ellie and Mac sewing patterns * is awesome according to our daughter. This time a high low top! The Lucky Clover is a set and includes besides the top also a skirt. I love the set together, but in the end decided to start with the top. There are several options in the pattern. You can make a basic crop top, or add a flounce skirt to the top (like I did) and/or the sleeves. There are two skirt option, I used the circle skirt, but there is also a gathered skirt option. The circle skirt definitely uses a lot of fabric, but it is so worth it! It is a rather quick sew, except for hemming the skirt. That takes a while. There is a 60% sale at Ellie anc Mac so you can get the Lucky Clover for less than $4 at the moment! Fab...

Glow in the dark twinning pjs

Our girls love pjs and of course nightgowns are the best. I have already sewed several nightgowns, this one with long sleeves and a ruffle at the bottom, this sleeveless one and another long sleeved one . This time I used a free pattern the  Grow with me Pajamas  by  Ellie and Mac Sewing Patterns *. I thought glow in the dark fabric would be perfect for nightgowns for our girls. The Grow with me pajamas is a very versatile pattern as you can sew for your boys and girls from this pattern and it is for free! It includes pants, a nightgown and several optional features. This pattern only includes long sleeves, but  I cut off part of the sleeves to create short sleeves. I used different colours for the colour block because I knew it would be difficult to recognise each size of pjs after laundry. Still I am struggling to remember which colour belongs to who again.  The girls love their nightgowns. I did lessen the flaring out of the nightgowns because ...

Swimsuits for the girls

I found a new joy, sewing swimsuits (see  this swimsuit  and  this swimsuit  which I sewed before). Our eldest swims every week so sewing a swimsuit will be used every week, not only during summer. But it all started when I wanted to sew a bikini bottom for our middle daughter. During summer our girls mostly wear UV shirts when they swim outside so they mostly need bikini bottoms. So I started looking for swim bottoms with a skirt attached, because of course our girls wanted skirts on their bikini bottoms. Our middle daughter is very small in her hips so I had to find a bikini bottom that had a size 6M-9M hips size (without a diaper) and needed to have the option of a skirt. It took me quite some time. Either I did find a great looking bikini pattern but it started at 2Y or 12M and was still not the right size for our girl, or I did find a pattern with the right size but without the right options. In the end I found the  Children's Mairin Swims...
