Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Sofiona Anniversary Fun: Moss hack

It is celebration time over at  Sofiona Designs  because they are celebrating their one year anniversary. Looking at all the beautiful designs at Sofiona designs you cannot believe they only exist one year! Have a look at my Tide Halter Top , Tundra Crop Sweater , Starry Night PJs and Railway Joggers . For this special occasion I made a hack of the Moss Hooded Dress/top . There is also a giveaway during these celebrations, you will find more about that on the bottom of my post. The Moss Hooded Dress/Top is a sleeveless top or dress with a straight bottom. It has a beautiful V-shaped open back that has the option of a hood. It is quite a summery pattern and since fall/winter is setting in here I wanted to make a more fall-proof dress. Moss hack So what did I do? * I added a back pattern piece to create a closed back but maintained the beautiful V-shaped back (without the hood or drawstring) * I added long sleeves by creating dolman sleeves * I added ...

DIY Christmas Toys blog tour: Urban Jungle Bunny & Lion (+ giveaway!)

This week I am part of the B est Homemade Christmas Toy Sewing Patters blog tour . This blog tour is hosted by Seams Sew Lo and is sponsored by Phat Quarters fabric and Seamingly Smitten (see the end of the post for the giveaway!). I am excited to be part of this tour and sewed two urban dolls for this blog tour. Our girls love them and have been carrying them around the house all day! I love sewing toys and stuffed animals. I have sewed quite a few  stuffed animals already, but these were mostly before my blog started. Sewing stuffed animals usually takes a bit more time, but the result is always so rewarding. Our kids just love it when I make toys or stuffed animals for them! For this tour I sewed the  Urban Jungle Crew  by  Petit a Petit + Family . You have probably already seen one or two. It is a paid pattern that makes big stuffed animals (big as in 76 cm (!) long). You can see in the pictures how cute the big animals are. They are almost as tall as...

Sewing Weekend! Win a Goodiebag!

I was also one of those 22 ladies that went on a sewing weekend last weekend. You might have seen already several posts from the other ladies of our awesome weekend away in Belgium. Read until the end of the post to take a chance in winning a goodiebag! As you can see many different garments were made. I made 5 in total, 2 for our girls, one gift and 2 for myself. I usually sew a lot for our girls, but not so much for myself. This was a great opportunity to spend some time on sewing for myself. One of the dresses that I made for our eldest is the Azure Party Dress by Ainslee Fox . I really love the dress, it is a party dress for sure, add some tule underneath and the party dress is complete. I made size 3 and it just fits perfectly. Our girl loves the dress with the robots, but then again she loves any dress in which she can twirl and she sure can in this dress. The dress is made from cotton and you can do some color blocking with all the different pattern pieces on the top pa...
