Sew Cucio

I don't often sew t-shirts, although they are quick and an easy sew and the result is always unique. Nevertheless, if I sew t-shirts, I love something with colour blocking. The Neverland Tee from Stitch upon a time * ticks that box, it has a great colour blocking detail. With t-shirts it is always the question whether it will be worn a lot or not. When I sew a dress for our eldest she will definitely wear it. With t-shirts it really depends, let's see if she likes it. Luckily she has two sisters who she can pass it on to, so it will be worn in the end. The Neverland tee has three sleeve options and the possibility to hem or use cuffs at the sleeves. There is the colour block version of the tee or with a plain front and/or back. I used the colour blocked pattern pieces for both the front and the back. The Stella Jumpsuit from Sofilantjes * has been on my sewing list for a long time. I wanted to sew it since our youngest was born, 2 years ago. This summer I just had to sew it since she will outgrow the sizes soon and I wanted to make a summer Stella with short sleeves. You must recognise the fabric from  these dresses . Yes, I bought it on the bold at Nooteboom and I love it. It a very soft fabric and flows so nice. There is still some left. Now all the girls at home have a garment in this fabric. Our husband is the only one missing out, but he doesn't like twinning with us unfortunately. Well too bad for him. The Stella Jumpsuit starts at size 50 (NB) and goes up to size 92 (2Y). I made a 74 chest size with a 86 length.  The Stella is the perfect newborn gift but it also works well for toddlers. Those jumpsuits look so cute on them when they walk around. I love high low dresses and tops on our daughter and so does she. This skirt and this dress are her favourites. When I saw the Lucky Clover I knew our daughter would love it. The longer the top/dress the better and the twirl of the Lucky Clover top and skirt pattern from Ellie and Mac sewing patterns * is awesome according to our daughter. This time a high low top! The Lucky Clover is a set and includes besides the top also a skirt. I love the set together, but in the end decided to start with the top. There are several options in the pattern. You can make a basic crop top, or add a flounce skirt to the top (like I did) and/or the sleeves. There are two skirt option, I used the circle skirt, but there is also a gathered skirt option. The circle skirt definitely uses a lot of fabric, but it is so worth it! It is a rather quick sew, except for hemming the skirt. That takes a while. Another BOO! Design pattern, this time a free pattern! Our eldest is liking skirts more and more, especially special ones. When I saw the free mermaid skirt from BOO! Designs , I knew our girl would love it. Our girl loves high low skirts and it is definitely an eye-catcher. She has been wearing her mermaid skirt non-stop ever since. Her holiday was filled with BOO! Design patterns, this bikini and this skirt.  The mermaid skirt is a really quick sew. You can choose to cut it as one piece or with two pieces with directional fabric. Our girl saw scales in this fabric, perfectly matching the mermaid theme of the skirt, so I choose to cut two pieces to keep the direction of the scales. After sewing the two skirt pieces together I had to add the waistband and I was done. I didn't hem the skirt as it wasn't necessary with this fabric and I do not really like hemming circle skirts. There is even a pattern piece included to add the skirt to a dress (the skirt is longer in this case)...

Stitch upon a time * is introducing the SUAT Spotlight. Each month there will two patterns that are in the spotlight and will be on sale. This month the boxerwear patterns ( Men's , Women's and kids ) and the Shirtzie patterns ( Women's and girl's ) are on sale. So I sewed up a shirtzie dress for our youngest.  The shirtzie has 3 sleeve lengths and 3 length options, a crop top, tunic or dress length (with a dress and maxi length). I sewed the 3/4 sleeves, which will be perfect for summer and fall. The shirtzie is available for both girls (NB - 12Y) and women (XXS - 3X). I slightly hacked the pattern by adding a neckband. The top of the dress is fully lined and I decided to leave out the lining and just add a neckband. I did not change anything to the bodice so the neckline with the neckband is a bit higher than if you line the bodice. Testing for myself is something I really like because my wardrobe grows with handmade items, which always fit much better than store bought clothing, and I often get challenged during testing. Sometimes with new techniques, sometimes with clothing that are outside of my comfort zone, but turn out awesome in the end, sometimes also with fabric choices. I also like that I learn about my own body measurements and the changes that I have to do for each pattern. This makes it easier for future patterns that I am going to make. Meet the new pink (!) Miss Dandelion dress  by  Sofiona Designs . I never thought that I would wear a pink (well maybe dark fuchsia) dress, let alone sew one for myself. But this stripe fabric (it has very small stripes, which are difficult to see in the pictures) is a colour I just fell for when I saw it at Nooteboom Textiles. Twisted and asymmetrical clothing are my weak spot, so I fell in love the moment I saw this outfit, the Adult Romy Twist Tee and Skirt from Petite Stitchery*. They look complicated and sophisticated, but they are actually very quick sews. The twist top has three different lengths, I made the regular top length, also the modest top length and mini top length are included in the pattern. I don't really see myself wearing anything shorter than the regular top length, but I must admit, everybody in the tester group looked great in the shorter top lengths. Besides the crew neck option, also a v-neck option is included and 4 different sleeve length. So you can make many different options with the twist tee. That skirt! Wow, it is just two pattern pieces, one for the skirt and one for the waistband, you need to fold and flip and there you are, you have your new twist skirt. Well not exactly, that is in theory how it works but it was a bit puzzling at first what should go where. I length...

Meet Gemma Twin set from Sofilantjes* . It is a great set that includes a top and a bottom. I have made 4 tops and 4 bottoms and can say we love them all! The Gemma twin set ( Nederlands patroon ) includes a top with short or long sleeves and for the bottom you have the choice of a culottes or a skirt. We all love the culottes because they look like a skirt, however it is just as practical as a short. You can use both woven and knit fabrics for the culottes. Our eldest is wearing a culotte that I made with knit viscose, so a very nice and flowy fabric. For our middle one I used a woven fabric, 100% viscose rayon. During testing I used 100% cotton fabric, which also works well although the culottes is not as flowy. I do like the more wider look of the cotton fabric. Our girls love their skirt (although they asked me why there was a piece of fabric between their legs...).
