Free Mermaid skirt

Another BOO! Design pattern, this time a free pattern! Our eldest is liking skirts more and more, especially special ones. When I saw the free mermaid skirt from BOO! Designs , I knew our girl would love it. Our girl loves high low skirts and it is definitely an eye-catcher. She has been wearing her mermaid skirt non-stop ever since. Her holiday was filled with BOO! Design patterns, this bikini and this skirt. The mermaid skirt is a really quick sew. You can choose to cut it as one piece or with two pieces with directional fabric. Our girl saw scales in this fabric, perfectly matching the mermaid theme of the skirt, so I choose to cut two pieces to keep the direction of the scales. After sewing the two skirt pieces together I had to add the waistband and I was done. I didn't hem the skirt as it wasn't necessary with this fabric and I do not really like hemming circle skirts. There is even a pattern piece included to add the skirt to a dress (the skirt is longer in this case)...

Glow in the dark twinning pjs

Our girls love pjs and of course nightgowns are the best. I have already sewed several nightgowns, this one with long sleeves and a ruffle at the bottom, this sleeveless one and another long sleeved one . This time I used a free pattern the Grow with me Pajamas by Ellie and Mac Sewing Patterns *. I thought glow in the dark fabric would be perfect for nightgowns for our girls. The Grow with me pajamas is a very versatile pattern as you can sew for your boys and girls from this pattern and it is for free! It includes pants, a nightgown and several optional features. This pattern only includes long sleeves, but I cut off part of the sleeves to create short sleeves. I used different colours for the colour block because I knew it would be difficult to recognise each size of pjs after laundry. Still I am struggling to remember which colour belongs to who again. Misusu FREEkin' Sewing Challenge: Max meets Lotte

I love patterns by Misusu, so when I saw the call for a blog tour by Misusu I jumped on the occasion and I was selected! Woohoo! Today is my day to inspire you for the Misusu FREEkin' Sewing Challenge. You only have a couple of days left to participate in the challenge (until Saturday August 18th). I love to see your creations! More on the challenge and the giveaway below. For my creation I used the free pattern the Max Tee and mashed it with the Lotte Dress (a paid pattern by Misusu). The Max Tee has a bib closure, which makes it easy to put over the head. What is unique about this Tee is that you can combine knit and woven in this pattern. You can make the bib part out of knit or woven. I really love patterns that match knit with woven. Bella Sunshine: Back to School Blog Tour

Blog tours are a great way to push me to start sewing. For the back to school blog tour by Bella Sunshine Designs * I used three different patterns to start my fall sewing. Although it is still searing hot here I sewed an outfit that she can wear once she goes back to school and most likely the weather will be back to its usual self (which means rain). I used two free patterns, the Eden Leggings and the Reagan Raglan t-shirt (free with the code in the BSD Facebook group ), and combined these with the Apple Cardigan by Bella Sunshine Designs . This is a first time for me to create one whole outfit that fits together and it took me a while to find the right combination of fabrics that fit together. I am really happy with the result, but I can imagine that some might find it quite bold (I guess most of my outfits are quite bold to others). Free Pattern: Upcycled Pompi Pants

I met Gabi from The Minimi Project in 2016 during our first sewing weekend. In the beginning of this year we met again during the second edition of our sewing weekend . The idea behind The Minimi Project is that they develop sewing patterns for repurposing/upcycling clothes. Gabi is such a great lady she already showed us during our sewing weekends how easy it can be to upcycle old clothes into great new ones. I believe the first promo pompipants were made during our sewing weekend in February. During summer Gabi posted some more pompipants she made on Instagram. I loved them right away, you know, that color blocking thing. When she asked if people wanted to test the pattern I volunteered right away. This also gave me an excuse to sew something for our youngest daughter. She is sometimes left behind a bit as her big sister because a lot of patterns start at 1 year. And although she is almost 2 years (when I sewed these pants, she is 2 years now), her chest is still in the 9-12...

Free Uvita Top by Itch to Stitch

Patterns by Itch to Stitch are always an addition to my closet. I have already sewn the Brasov top and Newport Top and both are on my list of favorite garments to wear. So I expect the new free Uvita Top * by Itch to Stitch to become a runner up on my list. The new Uvita Top by Itch to Stitch is a dropped shoulder top with a relaxed fit. You can make it with 3/4 sleeves or long sleeves and has a beautiful wide neckline. It is an easy sew which is always great. Sometimes difficult pattern are a nice challenge, but sometimes it is great to finish a pattern within the hour. I slightly hacked the Uvita Top as I did not have enough fabric, when do I have enough?! But the result is always the best when I am forced to be creative. I used the line for the 3/4 length sleeves for the main fabric and added the uni color fabric for the long sleeve length. I love it! Colour blocked garments always make my heart beat faster! Free Sideswipeskirt - Duck Butt Designs

Sometimes you have these designers, which patterns you just love! Duck Butt Designs is one of those designers for me. I just love all of their color blocking! I have applied for every test they had the last couple of months. And last week I was chosen to be a tester. I was over the moon to test for Duck Butt Designs! The skirt that was being tested was the Sideswipe Skirt (3M-12Y), which is part of the other Sideswipe patterns. Only this pattern is for free, for one week only! Join the DBD Facebook group for the code. The Sideswipe patterns have the look of colorblocking but do not have any extra seams than regular patterns. It is such an innovative idea! I really like it! It is an asymmetrical design with only one pocket on one side. I really like clothing that can pull of asymmetry. This skirt is just perfect and fits very well, even over a cloth diaper. The great part of the skirt is that you can make it in knit/jersey or in woven....
