Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Aureum for girls: maxi dresses for all

After the Aureum Women it is time for the Aureum girls from Sofilantjes *! Yay! Twinning to the max with my two eldest girls. I made maxi dresses for all three of us. Just like with the Aureum Women  ( Nederlands ), the Aureum girls has four different back options. In the picture above you see three of the options. During the test for the women's Aureum I sewed three Aureums with option A. You can see the final dress with option A  here . During the girl's test I got the chance to sew option C (on my maxi dress) and D (the one on the right). Only option B remained. I asked our eldest which option she wanted and she chose option B (the one on the left). I cannot choose which option I like best, each option has something I like.  I got to sew maxi length during testing. Our eldest loves maxi dresses, she has several in her closet. I though let's see how our middle daughter will like it. She likes them, but not as much as her sister. She just loves every dress tha...

Women's Aureum racerback dress

I love racerback tank tops, that is what I live in when the weather permits it. Sofilantjes * now has the perfect pattern for that the Aureum racerback top, tunic and dress  ( Nederlands ). It not only has the standard racerback option, it also includes three more beautiful back options. You just want to try them all! What I really like about this pattern is the different lengths and the different back options. It has four different length options, a top, tunic, dress and maxi length. In the photos shows the dress length (I also sewed up a top length during testing). Besides the simple back option that I sewed there are the drop shape, a 2 piece and a U shape back option. The pattern is great for sewing up basic tank tops, but also for a dressy maxi dress with an unique back option. Even just a great summer dress can be a possibility. This pattern is a must have! The only challenge is sewing the binding, that is really not my favourite. But after sewing three tops/dre...

Women's Stonecrop Tank Top

The weather is great so time for tank tops. Tank tops are my favourite type of top to wear during summer. Two weeks ago I showed you the stonecrop tank top kids for our girls . Now also the  stonecrop tank top Adult by MW Patterns * is available. Once I sewed up the stonecrop tank top for our girls I knew I wanted one with those flattering side panels as well. Of course I love the pattern because of the colour blocking but also because of the side panels which are great for your figure. There is also a plain version of the tank top available and another colour blocking option, which I made for our middle daughter (you can see it here ). I really like the curved hem on the front. I am less a fan of the binding on the top. I have been sewing binding almost non stop the last weeks. So my binding skills have improved, still it is not my favourite sewing activity. Patterns by MW Patterns are not very cheap, so if you are interested in the Stonecrop Tank Top for Adults you shou...

Kid's Stonecrop Tank top

I love colour blocking and the  Stonecrop tank top kids  by MW Patterns * is just perfect for that. The tank top has three different options. I sewed the two options with colour blocking, there is also the option of a plain tank top in just one fabric. Now that summer is almost here it is a great time to sew tank tops. I love patterns that include colour block options because your can use smaller scraps for those and you can combine different fabrics. I sewed this skirt for our eldest a couple of weeks ago. It is blue with silver (glitter) lines on it and I had some fabric left. Perfect to match the tank top with the skirt.  For our middle daughter I chose some leftover fabric from this peplum top . I find this fabric difficult to combine with other fabric because it is already a busy print. I do love the match with a leftover from this dress .  The neck and arms are done with binding. Usually I prefer to sew the bands with my serger, which is...
