Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Retro bell pants

Our girl loves retro clothing. She has been wearing these pants until I took it away from her closet because they were way too short. So I decided to make another pair. The last time I colour blocked the bell pants (see a video on how to here ). This time I kept it simple and I just sewed the fit pants from Mamma Can Do It * without any colour blocking. The fit pants is a great pattern because it includes many different types of pants. It includes 4 different types of pants: skinny pants, regular pants, wide pants and bell bottom pants. I sewed the bell bottom pants. There are also 4 different lengths includes, so you can sew all different types of pants with this pattern. The fit pants are available in baby sizes, kids, women's and men sizes.  The previous time I used a sweat fabric which wasn't very stretchy. This time I used stretch corduroy, which quite some stretch to it. I had to adapt the pants after I sewed them and tried them on our girl. Because of the stretchy mat...

Mittens for the whole family

This weekend I sewed mittens for all our girls (remember the mitts I sewed for our little one?)! Mittens are just the perfect gift during the winter season. They are quick sews, it took me an hour to sew one pair (and I even added a colour block to these mittens), and they are great scrap busters. The  Mitten Sewing Pattern * by  Mamma Can Do It  costs only $5 and it includes all sizes for the whole family! This Friday there is even a Festive Friday Flash sale: the code FESTIVEFLASH4 gives you 35% off the mittens. I made unlined mittens because I used double faced fleece, but the pattern also include instructions on how to make them lined. The red mittens are size XS and fit our middle daughter who is 3 years old. The purple mittens are size S for our eldest who is 5 years old. Our middle daughter wasn't in the mood for pictures, so no pictures of her this time. She does love the mittens! Because I love colour blocking, as you all know by now, I added a co...

How to Colour Block Bell Bottom shaped (Fit) Pants?

Do you also find pants in just one colour too boring for your kids? I do! I am always looking for a way to spice up pants (if I sew pants or leggings) and add a colour block. Then w e were asked to make a video tutorial for a video party. I decided to make a video tutorial on colour blocking bell bottom pants, our girl would hopefully love these.  I used the Fit Pants by Mamma Can Do It *. These pants are just perfect because they have different options: skinny, regular, bell bottom or wide leg widths. It is available is sizes preemie until 20 for everybody in your family ( babies , boys , girls , women and men ). It also has different length options: shorts, thigh, knee, capris and full length. Go and have a look at the video on how to colour block bell bottom shaped (fit) pants. A horse... uh unicorn peplum top!

I was sure when I showed this relaxed peplum top * to our daughter, she would call it her horse top. But I was wrong, these are obviously unicorns! Well great, if that makes that she will wear the top I am all for it! The relaxed peplum top, tunic and dress by Mamma Can Do It is a great peplum top which has lots of options. It comes in sizes 2Y-16 and there is also a  women's relaxed peplum top . You can make it in three different lengths, top, tunic or dress length. Additionally, you can make it with a circle peplum or a gathered peplum. Also the gathered peplum can be made with a regular hem or with a High/Low Hem. I made the top length with off course the circle peplum. Our girl loves the twirl factor of the circle hem, which girl wouldn't?! Next week (September 17-22) there will be a sew-a-long for the relaxed peplum top, tunic and dress for both girls and women. If you haven't sewed (or bought) it yet, now is your chance. There will be a 25% discount and ...

Sweet Dreams Nightgown

Our girl is a dress kind a girl, not only during the day, but also at night. Imagine, when you are dreaming, you want to wear a dress and not pants right?! So when I saw a pattern test for a nightgown I jumped on the tester call so I could make a nightgown for our girl. It is the Sweet Dreams Nightgown * by Mamma Can Do It . It includes sizes 3T to 16! There is also a Baby Sweet Dreams Nightgown starting at new born size. The next step was picking out fabric. Again I used a piece of fabric from our exchange pile during our sewing weekend . It was again a piece of fabric from Davina from Woohoo by Davina . She also made a dress with it. I took it home because I knew our girl would be over the moon about the fabric. Me, I was not the biggest fan, a bit too much for me. But then I was searching for fabric for a nightgown and I found this piece of fabric again, a match made in heaven I would say. Of course, now I love how the pattern matches the fabric! Then when I started c...
