There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley. Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. A couple of years ago I made two mini pals for our two daugthers, one for our eldest and one for our middle daughter. After that my dad requested another one for himself (the one with the glasses). So I made one for him. And recently our daughters said that our youngest daughter didn't have one. So I made one for her and decided to also make one of my husband and myself. Have a look at our family in mini pals (pattern from Heidi and Finn).

What I like about sewing the mini pals is that they can be personalised and they are perfect scrap busters. You might recognize some fabrics I have used from my previous projects. For the clothing I used woven fabrics. It is recommended to use woven fabrics for the mini pals, nevertheless, I like to use a little more structured fabrics for the hair. I have used fleece and some hairy type of fabrics from other projects or clothing.
All our girls love to play with them and love that they represent our family. They are a great present for kids or just for your own kids. I did not add mouths to the dolls since I didn't really know what kind of expression I wanted to give each doll. Our kids never mentioned the dolls missing a mouth and I don't miss it either.
Fabric: mostly scraps from previous projects
Options: It includes 8 different hair styles (there are also different clothing sets to dress the mini pals)
Sewing time: 2 hours each (it goes quicker when you sew several at the same time, however those eyes take some time)
