Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

A new and free Solis add-on

Need a reason to sew or even buy the Solis pattern by Sofilantjes*? Now is the perfect time, the Solis kids is on sale until June 23 because there is a new add-on. I love the Solis, and I have made this one and this one for our girl, as well as for myself. The back is just so beautiful. But there is competition, because the new add-on is also stunning. Have a look!
This new and free add-on is here for the celebration of 6 years of Sofilantjes. Already six years of Sofilantjes, congratulations to their amazing team! Have a look at all the Sofilantjes patterns I have sewed over the years. They are always a big hit with our girls. I even used this fabric combination before for Orbis skinny pants.
Important with this new add on is the length of the bodice of the dress. The bodice needs to end in the waist, measure from shoulder to waist before you start cutting. If the bodice is longer than the waist the back might start gaping and that is not what you want right? So adjust the bodice length to your measurement. Additionally, a heavier skirt works best because it pulls down the bodice of the dress. Luckily, a lot of the skirts of the other Sofilantjes dresses fit, so try the skirt you like. I used a full circle skirt for this dress.
If you do not like the open back, there is the possibility of adding a modesty panel that will fall underneath the open back. You can just use the front piece and cut it in half.
I love the open back, but maybe older girls prefer a little bit more of a modest back.
Fabric: the stripes come my store in Italy, the front is Apple tree fabric from Lillestoff

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
