Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Tropical shorts

When I went through the closet of my eldest I saw she was in need for shorts. Which isn't that strange since she prefers to wear dresses and skirts. When I saw that the new Fibre Mood* included a shorts pattern, I thought it would be great to sew new shorts for our eldest.
The adam shorts in Fibre Mood 10 is an interesting pattern, because when I saw the pattern pieces I wasn't really sure which pattern piece was supposed to go where. Lengthening was a challenge. Also making sure that my directional print in the pockets would not end upside down (I only had a small piece, a leftover from my neighbour during our sewing weekend last year) was interesting. The pattern piece did not make sense at a first glance. Luckily everything went as planned and the shorts were quickly sewed together.
The adam shorts can be sewed in both stretch or non stretch fabrics. I used stretch jeans because knit shorts usually do not have a long life with our kids. 
I have a sewiwgmachine with a lot of decorative stitches, since I thought the shorts could use a little extra I used a decorative stitch on the seams. Our daughter loves the result and loves her tropical shorts.

Options: the seam can be folded to the inside or the outside before sewing

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans.This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move.
