Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Sylva onesie by Sofilantjes

Aren't onesies just the cutest piece of clothing? And they wear them constantly! I love to put our youngest in new, soft, original onesies. Do you remember the Sylva t-shirt by Sofilantjes*? I sewed one more than a year ago. Now there is a Sylva Onesie (Nederlands patroon), with the same neckline!
The Sylva is characterised by the v-neck line on the front and the back of the onesie. The onesie comes in sizes NB to 86 and fits perfectly over cloth diapers as you can see in the photos. The onesie fits nicely around the legs and does not show the diaper (even though you might want to show the cute designs of the cloth diapers 😉). I sewed the short sleeves, but the pattern also comes with long sleeves, which is next on my sewing list.
Onesies are usually pretty quick sews and great baby gifts. The same goes for this onesie, you just need to pay attention when sewing the binding for the neck, and the result is so cute! And perfect for colour blocking. Of course I used three different fabrics for this onesie (just like I did for the t-shirt). But you can also use the same fabric for the sleeves. The Sylva Onesie is on sale for € 3,50 ex tax/btw until Sunday night October 21 23.59 CET. After that the Sylva Onesie will be €5,- ex tax/btw.
Fabric: the flower fabric was a gift during our sewing weekend. The uni coloured fabric (orange, yellow and pink) comes from my stash.
Pattern: Sylva Onesie by Sofilantjes

Fabric in 2018: this week in 18 - 4 out (2018: bought 54 - used 73 fabric - used 4 gifted fabric - used 17 scrap pieces of fabric) - in total 54 in 94 out (the outlet days at stoffenstraat made me buy 18 pieces of fabric 😜).

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
