Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Advena bodysuit by Sofilantjes

I love sewing for babies, even though our baby is not that small anymore. Those small pieces of clothing and bodysuits or onesies are always so cute when you are done. And bodysuits are always useful and Sofilantjes* just released a new one, the Advena bodysuit (ook in het Nederlands).
Bodysuits and onesies are very grateful projects because they are worn every single day. The Advena bodysuit is a great basic for your collection. It has the regular neckline that I sewed but there is also an asymmetrical neckline option with just one shoulder having a fold over binding. I think that is also a cute detail and definitely an unique detail.
Our girl wears cloth diapers and this bodysuit fits very well over cloth diapers as well as regular diapers. Also the length of the bodysuit works well with cloth diapers. You use the trunk length to decide on the length of the bodysuit you sew. It covers the diaper nicely and you don't need to stretch the bodysuit. Besides the long sleeves it also includes short sleeves for the upcoming summer.
As you are used with Sofilantjes, the Advena bodysuit is only sale for a short period of time. The Advena release sale will run through until April 20 08.00 CET. The pattern is on sale for €3,75 - ex taxes (€4,54 incl EU taxes), no code needed. After the sale it will be €5,50 ex taxes.
I sewed two versions during testing. The blue one is a previous version of the pattern. The binding on the bottom was changed slightly in the final pattern. Love that fabric!
Fabric: The penguin fabric is a leftover from this project and the blue fabric was a small piece that I picked up during our sewing weekend

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

Brianna Dress - DG Patterns Blog Tour

I have a soft spot for asymmetrical patterns. So when I saw the Brianna Dress by  DG Patterns * I instantly loved it.  Today I am part of the DG patterns blog tour. We are all showing one of the patterns by DG patterns. At the bottom of the post you can see who else is participating, a discount code by our sponsor  Southern Bell Fabrics  and the fabric giveaway. Enjoy! The Brianna Dress has two asymmetrical features, the dress itself has a asymmetrical shape and there is an asymmetrical neckline option. It also has a round and a V-shape neckline option, so there are three different necklines from which you can choose. I of course chose the asymmetrical neckline. Usually when I start with a pattern I cut my pattern pieces before I start reading the instructions, I know, not always the best approach. This time I browsed through the instructions and luckily I found out in time that you have to tape two pattern pieces together before cutting the fabric. O...

One Thimble 17: Big Day Out Jacket

I just love blog tours! It is so nice to see the different perspective of different sewers on the same projects. The One Thimble Magazine* is a great way to bet to know different designers in one magazine. For me this was my first time sewing something from One Thimble. Although I have sewed a pattern that was part of a previous version from One Thimble ( Orbis Sinny Harem Pants  by Sofilantjes in One Thimble 13 ).  In the newest One Thimble, issue 17 I sewed the Big Day Out Jacket by Ainslee Fox Boutique Patterns .  The Big Day Out Jacket is a denim jacket. My version looks like a denim jacket but actually I sewed the jacket from french terry and sweat fabrics with a denim look. With this jacket you can go all out! You can add embellishments, use different types of fabrics or different colours. It really is a garment you can go all out! I love the jacket! I have sewed an  Ainslee Fox Boutique pattern before when I sewed the wedding dress for...
