Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Billies for the husband

It was already a long time ago that I made something for my husband so he felt a bit neglected. Therefore I decided to sew a couple of items for him during our sewing weekend. I sewed three items for him during that weekend. I started with pyjama pants (which did not make it to the blog). The second day I sewed two Billies with fabric that I bought during the sewing weekend. Today I am showing you two different Billies.
The first t-shirt is version A with a v-neck. I used the lower v-neck that is included in the pattern. I wanted to use the coverlock to topstitch the neckline and tried something new. I sewed on the inside of the t-shirt so that the decorative stitch was showing on the outside. With a v-neck the point is always difficult to get topstitched nicely, so I stopped before I reached the lowest point of the v-neck and just left it like that, I like the result.
Changes I made to the pattern: I lengthened the t-shirt with 2 cm and I lengthened the sleeves with 4 cm.
For the second t-shirt I wanted to colour block so I cut the bodice and sleeves in two pieces. I added a pocket made out of ribbing as that was the perfect match with the ribbing I used for the neckline. Sizes included in the pattern are 46 - 60 (European sizes), but there is also a teenage and child version.
Fabric: First t-shirt: Adventure from Soft Cactus (french terry) bought at Pieke Wieke. Second t-shirt: top part is fabric from Pieke Wieke, the bottom is a tricot from Textielstad.
Pattern: Billie (only available in Dutch) from Zonen09

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
