Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Meet Jalie's Charlotte and Michelle

I did not only sew the Nikita from the 12 (!) new patterns that were released by Jalie Patterns, I also sewed the Michelle tanks and dress (3911) and Charlotte Cardigans (3900).  A summer dress and cardigan, perfect for summer.
On our way to our sewing weekend in the beginning of this year we made a stop at the Stoffenstraat and I saw the fabric with the elves, or dancers, on it. I knew our eldest would love it! So I bought it and then I had to find a pattern that would fit the fabric. When I saw the Michelle I thought it would be a perfect fit.
After sewing the dress and our daughter put it on, I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting a bit more of a fitted model. Or maybe because I sized up one size in length it came out a bit too big in my opinion. Well she can still wear it next year and she loves it because it is a loooong dress. I do like the model for myself and would size down if I would sew another one for our daughter. I do love the v-shaped neck in the front and the back of the dress.
The Michelle also includes a top (either with a facing or lined) and of course the large size range that we are used to with Jalie Patterns, starting at 2y up to 56 (2XL).
I find uni coloured fabrics often a bit boring for our girls, so I decided to add something to the top part of the dress. I traced one of the dancing elves from the skirt with my Cameo and with the use of flex foil I ironed it on. I love the result and of course so does our daughter.
Next up is the Charlotte, which is a cardigan that comes in 2 lengths. A regular length and a short length, which I made for our eldest. I really like the cardigan, it fits perfectly over a dress. I used a french terry type of fabric for those chilly days in summer. Since the Michelle is sleeveless it combines perfect for those colder days.
Fabric: both the the dancing elves and the cosy sweat come from the Stoffenstraat. The ribbing of the cardigan are from swafing and I ordered them from OmaLie's stoffen.

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
