There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley. Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Dresses by Bella Sunshine Designs* are always a hit with our girls. I have sewed the Sahara Dress for our eldest girl and soon I will show you another BSD dress for our youngest girl. Today I am showing you the Emmaline maxi, dress and top by BSD.
I sewed the maxi dress with long sleeves and our girl loves it, she basically lives in it when she is at home. The fit is perfect as always with BSD patterns and the dress twirls!
This dress is an easy sew, the only thing that lengthened the sewing process was adding clear elastic to the waist of the dress. By cutting the fabric mirrored for the skirt pieces it gives a nice effect, which I love.
Every single day our eldest asks whether she can wear a long dress today. When she goes to school usually the answer is not to school. When she is done with school she asks again if she can put on a long dress (she has 4 long dresses at the moment), the answer usually is yes. So basically our girl wears long dresses as much as possible. You can imagine that this dress is a huge hit with her. Especially since the previous long dresses I sewed her are not until the ground anymore.
The Emmaline maxi, dress and top has several options. You can sew it sleeveless, with short sleeves or with long sleeves. The other options are a top option, a dress option and a maxi dress option. It comes in sizes 6M - 12 for girls and 0 - 30 for ladies. It is on sale until April 20 for $6 (girls), $7 (ladies) or $12 (bundle).I sewed the maxi dress with long sleeves and our girl loves it, she basically lives in it when she is at home.
