Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Fabric : Starburst French Terry from Second Star Fabric Pattern : Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood Sizing : 2 - 14 Options : just 1, the colour blocked sweater Difficulty : 1 out of 5 stars Sewing time : 1,5 hours # Fabric t...

Galaxie 3: travel bags

Jalie has just released Galaxie 3: travel accessoires. This is a package that includes 3 different bags that are perfect for your travels. These include: Jet (a travel pouch/passport holder), Eclips (a purse organizer) and Supernova (a packable tote bag). I sewed the small purse organizer, which I am showing you today.
I think the Galaxie 3 is a great bundle of patterns, very useful for travelling and great as a gift. The best part is that you do not need any interfacing, so it is just non stretch fabric that you need. There are 3 patterns includes, of which two you can make in a small and large size. I made the small Eclipse, so the small purse organizer. Something I wanted to sew for a long time, but never found the time to do so. A deadline is always the best way for me to actually finish a project quickly.
The pattern has 8 outer pockets, one zipper pouch and four compartments. So enough room to store my wallet, keys, tissues and all the other stuff that is now moving around in my bag.
If you are interested in sewing accessoires, have a look at Galaxie 1: bags, totes and pouches from 2017, and Galaxie 2: kitchen accessoires and wearables, from 2018. These are all great ideas for (Christmas) gifts.
Get 50% discount on the Galaxie 3 unitl Monday December 2nd, use the code GALAXIE2019 (valid until Monday December 2, 23h59 EST).
Fabric: woven fabric that I have already for a long time
Pattern: Galaxie 3: travel accessoires by Jalie
Sizing: two sizes are available for the purse organizer and the tote bag.
Options: Travel pouch, purse organizer (small and large) and tote bag (small and large)
Difficulty: Intermediate
Sewing time: It took me around 2 hours to sew the small purse organizer.

  1. Ah, ziet er handig uit! Ik heb nog een leren handtas, die blijft een soort van pluisjes afgeven en dus alles komt daar 'vuil' uit. Dan is zo'n purse organiser zeer handig denk ik.

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
