Asymmetrical Ellis sweater from Fibre Mood

There is a new Fibre Mood * released and I got to sew a great sweater from it, the Ellis sweater . The Ellis sweater is very quick sew but stands out because of the split neckband and waistband, such a fun detail! And of course the diagonal colour block is right up my alley.   Our girl picked out the fabric herself, at least the fireworks fabric. I picked out the matching fabric. The print works well with the large piece. The sweater is a bit roomy, that is because there is a size 6 and a size 8 and she doesn't fit in the size 6, but the size 8 is still a bit big on her. Well she can grow into it. At textielstad I bought a couple of multicolour threads . I felt this was the perfect project to try it out and indeed it matches the colours in the sweater very well. Two times nori wrap dresses

Wrap dresses are always lovely and the Nori wrap dress and top from Elliedactyl is a favorite here! Especially since you can do some colour blocking!
I bought the Nori wrap dress and top from Elliedactyl already 2,5 years ago but never sewed one up. During my sewing weekend in February I sewed one for our middle daughter in flamingo fabric. She loved it! When I came back our eldest wanted one as well! I planned one out and traced the pattern, however there were other projects that got more priority in sewing. Then I had another sewing weekend. These weekends are perfect for sewing all those project I have planned but never had the time to sew up (at least other projects got more priority). So the first project I sewed during this sewing weekend was sewing a nori wrap dress for our eldest, also in (different) flamingo fabric.
The Nori wrap dress starts at 3M and I must say I am usually persuaded to buy a cute pattern when the pattern starts with small sizing as our girls (especially the middle one) is small in her waist. Additionally, I like my skirts/dresses to be long and the dress length of this dress falls nicely on the knee. So that means they can wear it for a long time (at some point in time it will be tunic length and they can wear it with pants as their chest size does not change much over time ;)). Lastly, I love the faux wrap style and it looks great on our girls. The dress takes up quite some fabric as it has a circle skirt (look at that twirl), but it looks amazing!
Fabric: All fabric comes from de Stoffenstraat.

Sizing: 3M-12Y
Options: dress length (mid knee length) and top length (tunic length) with a circle or a gathered skirt and tulip sleeves.
Difficulty: I would say it is an intermediate sewing pattern.

Basically Jalie Blog Tour: Bella Fit and Flare dress

This week it is time for the Basically Jalie Blog tour and a giveaway! For this blog tour it is all about basics. Although a dress might not be a stereotype basic, it is for our eldest. She wears a dress every single day, or at least as often as possible. So I chose the Bella Fit and Flare dress (3460) from Jalie . Read until the end for more details about the giveaway! I love the silhouette of this dress and so does our girl. When she spins around it twirls perfectly. And did you see that lovely back? I finished the back differently. In the pattern they add elastic to finish off the neck. I was lazy and just added a neck binding that I serged to the dress. To accentuate the princess seams I added piping to the front seams. I used the same fabric that I used for the neck binding. Because we are still in winter season I also made a tank top to wear underneath the dress. I used the Raglan Tee, Racerback Tank and Tunics (3245)  from Jalie in the same fabric as the ...

One Thimble 22 blog tour: Piper Pinny dress

My daughter loves twirly dresses and then suddenly during summer we saw this denim dress without any twirl factor and she instantly loves it! Complete mind changer. So when I saw the Piper Pinny in the newest One Thimble 22 *, I knew our girl would just love it. I have a large fabric stash, but besides that I also have a large upcyclying stash. Especially with denim, I just can't let go and feel like I need to save every denim jeans that we have owned in our household. So when I have a denim sewing project I try to use my large pile of old jeans. This pair of jeans comes out of my mother's stash as my stash is in storage due to our upcoming move. I love upcycling because you keep all the cool elements of the original garment. The Piper Pinny is a denim dress with a vintage and a knee length. You can also add a front faux placket, tie straps or buttons and you can use the pattern pieces with or without a centre seam for the front and back. I seam ripped the old jeans th...
